Sean Payton defends Charles Brown
"In fairness to him, I think there were a lot of other things we didn't do well in that game. We didn't particularly run the ball efficiently. Defensively we really struggled, giving up some big plays. You know, you had the one pass [that] goes up the sidelines with eight guys watching. You have a couple long runs, missed tackles," Payton told reporters.
"The kicking game, we can't kick a field goal. You know, we have one blocked, which was a low trajectory kick. The other one we just shanked to the left. We get an onside kick against us. We're alert all week for that possibility. "So it's hard to just say or pick out one specific player. Obviously when you're at left tackle, it becomes more glaring. But we'll put a lot of thought into the best approach this week as we get ready to play Carolina." Sean Payton defends Charles Brown - Sports Mole |
Re: Sean Payton defends Charles Brown
I can remember at least twice in the last few seasons we were not ready for an onside kick...

Re: Sean Payton defends Charles Brown
The ran the ball well on the few attempts they tried. SO many times this year after getting 7, 8, and even 9 on first down running the ball, the Saints have went pass, pass, three and out and had to punt. Screw the script. Screw the multiple subs EVERY play. On 2nd and 3 or less, RUN THE DANG BALL!

I agree with Papz. Brooks deserves some blame in this somewhere, somehow.

Re: Sean Payton defends Charles Brown
Any chance SP is bluffing on this one?
Great motivation that he pulls CB and says he isn't starting. BUT, Brown played well against Johnson and Carolina last week not to go all conspiracy theory, but any chance SP says 'Brown had a great week of practice, looks motivated, and we are giving him another shot?' |
Re: Sean Payton defends Charles Brown
put trace in and see where he is at. if he stinks put brown back in.

Re: Sean Payton defends Charles Brown
It's like ok PT just ran 23 yard gain ok come out we will put n Ingram with a play action yeah they will neve see it coming....
|
Re: Sean Payton defends Charles Brown
Yeah, maybe Payton is playing mind games, like when we just hit a huge bomb to Jimmy and we're on the 1 yard line, okay, let's spend 45 seconds changing personnel packages and running back and forth, then burn a time out at :01 when Drew can't get the play off in time. Then take Jimmy out, Ingram loses a yard, we futz around with Jed Collins and Drew throwing out the back of the end zone, and settle for kicking a field goal, with a kicker who hasn't kicked in the NFL in over a year. They'll never see it coming.

Charles Brown defends Sean Payton, "In fairness to him, everyone made mistakes. We can't blame him completely for not having us prepared twice in three weeks, and not being able to adjust the game plan. I mean, sure we sucked at EVERY aspect of the game, but should we blame the coaches for that?"

Re: Sean Payton defends Charles Brown
chris ivory who was a true power back someone who could run over people is missed.I know some roster sites list khiry robinson same size as ivory not true he is about same size as ingram.True brown is not bushrod but if the saints had a power run game type back it would help the left tackle position.if the oter teams gets run over like ivory could do it made teams back off on the pass rush an play the run more.now with the pick we drafted the nose tackle from geogia who was needed just a shame old roger took some picks the we could have had our cke an eat it.

Re: Sean Payton defends Charles Brown
Sean Payton has as much chance of success defending Charlie Brown's performance as he had defending his case before a prejudiced Roger Goodell...

Re: Sean Payton defends Charles Brown
if you have to find scapegoats, you're not a fan.
not a loyal one, anyway. i'd suggest not whining so much. |
