What do the Saints need to do to win in Carolina?

The Bleacher Report reports on what Carolina needs to do to beat us.

New Orleans Saints vs. Carolina Panthers: Breaking Down Carolina's Game Plan | Bleacher Report

What do we need to do?

I'll start. 5 sacks for 49 yards didn't hurt, last time around. But, weirdly, we got no turn-overs off any of those sacks.

1. Continue the sack-a-thons and make Scamster fumble the ball! Get Jordon and Junyah some film on Derrick Thomas. ;-)

2. Continue the shut down run blocking. 128 yards only last time. Let's go for less than 100!!

3. Defense -- helloooo -- Interception is not a painful medical procedure. Scamster is very inaccurate at times. Ball-hawking is a respectable career move in the Who Dat nation -- and has some very sweet perks.

Force and capitalize on turnover opportunities.

Kick some butt. Be as physical against them as they were the last time.

Score more points than Carolina.

Receivers fight for balls.
Make Cam pay when he runs.
No wasting TO's
Don't force it in the RZ.

Keep Cam in the pocket and jam the receivers at the line... Just like last time.

Scoring at least one more point than the kittens wouldn't hurt either.

7 fumbles in 46 games... While he may throw it away, he is not a fumbler.

Re: What do the Saints need to do to win in Carolina?

1) Run the ball, the entire game, with authoriti

2) Keep Drew upright, unharrassed

3) Get Cam Newton down, early, late and often

4) Swarm to the Ball AND Wrap Up/Complete Tackles

Don't throw two picks on our 1st two possessions.
Don't go 3 and out for most of the game.
Keep Cam in the pocket.
Protect the football.

Re: What do the Saints need to do to win in Carolina?

1. limit turnovers
2. stop the run, force them into long 3rd downs, = longer passing downs
3. protect drew
4.keep momentum at a level pace. By: controlling time of possession, see #1.

Play like you played the last time against Carolina.

I know the definition of insanity is repeating the same failure and expecting a different out come...

How do you define deviating from success and expecting success.

+1. The kittens don't have the most physical corners so we should be ok in that category. I hope.

Score more points than them.

Execute in the red zone

Protect Drew

Get ahead early so we can dictate the tempo if the game with the run

Contain Newton

Win the turnover battle

That simple

That is a misconception and is NOT the definition of insanity. It's a quote from Albert Einstien when he spoke about results of a scientific study.

People just say that because they don't know any better.

Incorrect - Thanks for playing

Many people have been attributed to the origin of the quote: Einstein, Twain, to name a few....

It has been paraphrased from the original that came out of the Basic Test of Narcotics Anonymous Copy Write 1982

Re: What do the Saints need to do to win in Carolina?

Yeah, I'm surprised more people besides Danno aren't keying in on this....it's all about the first quarter, folks....

As long as Drew and the Saints don 't shoot themselves in the foot and dig a RIDONKULOUS 14 or 17 POINT HOLE for themselves, in the first ten minutes of the game, with a Football Follies-esque assortment of fumbles, pick 6's, onside kicks, botched kick returns, bobbled drops, 3-and-outs, personal fouls out of bounds and other ABSURD assorted nonsense, before they even get a first down....as long the first quarter is anything resembling NORMAL sensible football, instead of a total Saints meltdown, the Saints have every chance of winning this game EASILY. Even possibly running away with it.

But if the TV cuts back from a commercial to start the second quarter and they're down 14 or 17 to nothing again, and you see Morstead lining up to punt after another 3 and out, then I think we can all pretty safely reach for the whiskey and start looking to next year ....

Look at what happens in SO MANY of the famous heartbreaker road losses under Sean Payton, over the years: Seattle this year, Rams this year, SF '11, Ravens '10, even Chicago NFCCG in '06? In all those disappointing games, things got crazy and out of control VERY early in the game, first quarter. Everything goes nuts -- Saints get punched in the mouth, the plan goes out the window, they get in a huge ridiculous deep hole, and the Saints try but can't come back from it. Key to this game IMHO, is to AVOID that. To win in Carolina they need to control the first quarter and do everything they can think of that is, uh, NOT THAT.

Webster's is a great place, while you are there look up "huge".

Here is my favorite from Merriam-Webster's:
Main Entry: drama queen
Function: noun
Date: 1979
: a person given to often excessively emotional performances or reactions.

Here is Merriam-Websters definition of insanity:
Main Entry: in·san·i·ty
Pronunciation: \in-ˈsa-nə-tē\
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural in·san·i·ties
Date: 1590

3 b: something utterly foolish or unreasonable.

Sounds like repeating the same action and expecting a different out come to me.

I just want to see us actually run the ball when it makes sense. I absolutely hate when it's 3rd and 1 and we bomb it deep. And we do this numerous times a game. Just give Pierre the damn ball and move the chains.
