Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
In the eight seasons before Brees arrived, the Saints had seven starting quarterbacks. Here are some names that strike fear into Who Dat Nation: Kerry Collins, Danny Wuerffel, Billy Joe Tolliver, Billy Joe Hobert, Jake Delhomme, Jeff Blake and Aaron Brooks. Looking back a little further reveals names like Jim Everett, Doug Nussmeier, Wade Wilson, Mike Buck and Steve Walsh.

Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
Thank you for the reminder. We have become very spoiled as a whole. That being said, Brees needs to get back to his fan base spoiling ways.

Bingo, remember Tampa won the SB a couple years ago, go to that Forum, Wanna talk about misery and the 7th level of Hell. Some folks need to look at the big picture. Not a day goes by i don't appreciate where our franchise is, too many years if the Guido Merkens/Danny Woeful/Chrissy Everetts. Big picture Baby!

Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
Didn't need the reminder, but thanks for pointing out how lucky we are to have Drew Brees on this team.
About 25 other teams would trade their QB for him straight up without blinking an eye. |

Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
We are grateful. Don't mistake ungrateful for disappointed.
We are just feeling the emotion allowed other NFL fans after a loss. This is a luxury we are unfamiliar with experiencing. Also, this is our house. We keep the sadness within and console each other. We are blessed. Drew Brees is still walking and playing. Carry on. |

Denver Green Bay Seattle New England Indy All I could come up with. Atlanta!! Oh yeah, forgot.. |
Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
Why is Jeff Blake on that list?
He is the best QB the Saints have had that wasn't named Drew Brees. |
Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
And it's O K to be frustrated and pissed and moan and complain here. that's what this place is for. And come Monday someone puts the wind back in our sails and we're optimistic again.
that's why i love it here. |

The one thing that is bothering me is Mike Buck I just barely remember him. Must have been drinking to much in the early ninety's. |

Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
Watching the Saints is kind of like watching your own child play sports. You believe in their potential to the point of blind fanaticism. And when I leave my child to a coach who sometimes (in my lofty parental opinion) doesn't completely maximize their potential to win, it rankles me.
Usually at that point I realize I'm sitting in a crusty sports bar with cheap beer watching a game that I am in no way personally affected by other than the price of my next jersey. And then I ask why the hell do I get so bent out of shape when a coach who knows more about football than I ever will in 10 lifetimes doesn't do what I want him to do. WHY GOD, WHY |
Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
Yes, all you have to do is remember what it was like being a Saints fan during this time of year (pre-Brees) to appreciate the different kind of tension that we deal with now.

Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
Kerry Collins was easily the best QB we had during the Ditka years. Too bad we only had him for half a season.
Still, I get the point. I'm always willing to allow Drew a brain fart here and there, as he is the best QB we've ever had, and probably ever will have. |

Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
I am grateful for the team we have. But at the same time it appears we get trashed if we are not dominating by opposing fan bases no matter what. If we don't look serious we get easily dismissed. And being on a undercover board of former ESPN posters, it becomes distressing to see my saints constantly dissed and people saying panthers have a better shot at a sb.

Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
I'm thankful I was fortunate enough
to watch 10 wins so far. People forget that at one time 10 wins took a few seasons, they forget that before that there were no Saints. Considering most fans default to a regional offering. If rather watch the Saints lose than Cowboys/Texans/or Falcons win. |

CP - Scum Newton FC - Fatty Lice WR - RGIII NYG - Eli PS - Rapelessburger BR - Flunko SD - Rivers I don't think that any of the above two lists' teams would trade for Brees. That's 13 teams of the 32. Just sayin'. Anyway, most teams don't want to commit that much of their cap to one player, and when they do, they usually turn into mediocre teams. The best teams right now aren't paying very much for their starting QB, relatively. They all have the cap space to pay offensive linemen who can block, and depth. |

Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
i love and have always loved my saints. but i will not close my eyes to stupidity. i have been through worse but i want so much more than we have gotten so far. DYNASTY I am never happy. even after the super bowl i was trying to figure how to make the trophy ours for keeps. i will never stop. i am sick and have a problem I know. saints fever has only one cure win win win after so many years of defeat. :bng:

Re: Some ungrateful Who Dats should remember
Honestly if we missed the playoffs the year after we won the sb and Atlanta didnt start their sb contention crap I would be fine with what we have this season. But making the playoffs back to back years and another the next means the saints have what it takes to be ELITE and we have a right to want this team to get the respect the pats, broncos, and 49ers get.

Drew actually looks a LOT like Aaron Brooks when we go on the road lately, but that's beside the point. You don't see anyone comparing Drew to any of those guys do you? Also, try not to lose all perspective when trying to GIVE perspective. Those quarterbacks didn't have any talent around them with the exception of Brooks, who had reasonable talent around him. Those quarterbacks also played in the non wussy era of football. Don't forget that. Drew is obviously better than all of them, but right now he doesn't play up to the standards of a 100 million dollar man. And frankly, he doesn't look like half the quarterback he used to be, at this moment. But it's not ALL his fault, and that's why we're complaining about play calling and O-line play, as much as we're complaining about Brees. And finally, does it ever occur to anyone that maybe, just maybe, we WANT to forget about the old days? |

Nearly all teams pay for what they consider to be a game changer, and they are not always QBs. Drew happens to be the game changer that we invested in. Jarred Allen and Revis are with in 1.5M of Drew for Cap Hit. 2013 NFL Top Cap Hit Salaries Cap hit is all that matters these days. Total and AVE contract value is moot because very rarely are those huge contracts played out. |
