Running Game Week 16

The loss sort of overshadowed some of the good things that happened last Sunday. For me, it was honestly the first game that I have seen Ingram produce. Dallas's defense was horrible and everyone ran well, but against Carolina he did well.

Mark Ingram - This is solid
13 carries
83 yards
6.4 YPC

And after every solid run, he was pulled.

I don't think he had back-to-back runs all game did he?

Could he have handled any more than that anyway. Didn't he have to go to the locker room for fluids because he was cramping?
Not that I don't agree, he actually looked good running the ball.

I doubt it, but then again, other than DLP and Drew.... No one gets back to back touches.

I doubt 4 or 5 more carries would have hurt him. Pehaps only being used every 5th play contributed to those muscles tightening up.

And I checked, he had no back to back runs the entire game.

I don't mind our committee approach if no player is really separating themselves, but if a player is playing really well like Ingram was week 16, he needs to become the main back at least for that game.

So true, although Khiry had 3 straight runs in the 4th (7,6,1).

But no one else did the entire game.

Hard to understand Payton's logic behind that... Deuce got plenty of back to back runs...

An absolute head scratcher for me.

I completely agree St.Leonard.

Payton needs to scrap the committee approach altogether

Ingram has produced when given opportunities

We are not RB by committee because of production.

Mark Ingram is no where near the answer to getting away from the committee approach.

1 healthy season out of 3 is not the basket where you sink all of your eggs.

I'd like to see Robinson run a couple of more against Tampa. Still not sold on Ingram. We may be show casing him for a trade next season.
We've got PT, Sproles , Cadet and Robinson. Sproles and PT are the best two but are getting older. Still, I think we're set at RB.

I'd at least like to see consecutive carries a few times each game.

We swap RB's on every play.

Yes. I agree.

What's interesting and strange at the same time is that we are the least running team in the league (reason not the point), but are very heavily invested in that position.

We carry 5 RBs and spend 9.35M in cap to not run the ball.

We carry 5 WRs and spend 10.7M in cap.

We may have 5 rbs incase majority of them go down like NFCC in San Fran.

I wasnt talking about giving the reigns to mark ingram solely, i just want to see an offensive drive where the same player stays in for more than 2 plays at a time

Im tired of seeing ingram hit a 8-11 yard run, getting replaced by sproles, then we run a screen which loses 4 yards

Our offense has always been that way.... It's our passing game as well. Jimmy Graham doesn't get back to back passes, neither does Sproles.

Most don't realize it but that is what happens the majority of the time on most NFL teams. The back that breaks one open for 30 yards and is tackled on the 3 yard line is rarely the back that is allowed to punch it in.

I learned this playing fantasy football, can't tell you how many times I see my back make a huge gain to the red zone only to be left asking WTF as someone else carries it in.

Having them is not the interesting/odd part; it's the having but not using.
