If the Raiders fire Dennis Allen, should Saints re-hire him?

Prior to joining the Broncos, Allen was an assistant coach for five seasons with New Orleans, first as assistant defensive line coach (2006-07), then as defensive backs coach (2008-10).

Under Allen’s direction in 2010, the Saints’ secondary allowed an NFL-low 13 touchdown passes while ranking fourth in the NFL in net passing yards per game (193.9).

In 2009, Allen tutored a secondary that played a key role in helping the Saints to their first Super Bowl victory. His unit accounted for an NFL-high six interception returns for touchdowns and totaled 22 picks en route to their championship. One of his pupils, cornerback Tracy Porter, sealed the Saints’ 31-17 win over Indianapolis by returning a Manning interception 74 yards for a touchdown late in the game.

He also helped revitalize the career of safety Darren Sharper, who in 2009 tied for the NFL lead with nine interceptions. Sharper joined safety Roman Harper in forming the first pair of defensive backs in franchise history to make the Pro Bowl in the same season.

In 2008, his first year as secondary coach, Allen helped the Saints overcome season-ending injuries to both starting cornerbacks and contributed to a defense that held five opponents under 200 yards passing.

Allen assisted in tutoring the Saints’ defensive line from 2006-07, helping defensive end Will Smith become a Pro Bowler in 2006 after posting 10½ sacks and forcing three fumbles

I would love to see him back. Wouldn't mind bringing Tracy back with him.

Only if Rob signs off on him. I have total faith in Rob Ryan and if he wants the guy then ok, otherwise... No.

Keenan has been special and Corey is making progress. We have a few other guys (Sweeting, Wade) and recent signing of Terrance .. don't forget P Rob will be back next season.

Thanks for the memories but PASS on Porter.

We need an O-Line coach -- in case anyone is confused.

Definitely, our DB's had their best year with dennis allen as the DB coach

If rob ryan wants him as a part of his D then it would be good

Wesley Mcgriff hasn't been bad though.

I liked what Allen did with our secondary when he was here but if the Cardinals or Seattle let their Db coach go (wishful thinking) I think they could make our secondary a lot stouter. They also seem to draft secondary players that have a knack for int.'s and that would be good.

If the Raiders fire Allen and hire Rob Ryan (or anyone hires Rob Ryan as HC), I'd offer Dennis Allen the DC spot so as long as we continue to move forward in the transition to the 34 defense...

He's been fantastic actually. We're ranked 2nd in the NFL in pass defense, largely due to a much improved pass rush, but our DB's look light years better than our 2012 squad did.

Wouldn't change any of the defensive coaches unless they choose to move.A masdive improvement this year. Id get a new ST coach though, needs a shake up its far too stale.Been better in defensive coverage though

Personally, I think McGriff has been the difference in the secondary.....possibly the defense.

We have a great secondary coach right now in Wesley McGriff. If you don't know much about him, do some reading. He is one of the most respected DB coaches around.
