The Last Time We Played Seattle

They kicked our a$$ at the Line of Scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Offensively, conventional wisdom says the way you overcome that is by establishing a run game early and getting the O-Line into the frame of mind that we're gonna pound you, grind you and bully you until you break. Payton and Brees like to set up the run w the pass. I don't think that'll work against the Seahawks. Give me more MI, KR and PT please.

44, you are preaching to the choir with me. I am right there with you.

We also need to take a look at the Cardinals game against the Seahawks. In that game, Palmer played badly. 4 interceptions, wow. And, they still won. Notice a familiar theme here? Their defense played out of their minds holding the Hawks to 3.3 yds per pass. They got a fumble too -- which is a SEA anomaly. They also held SEA to 103 on the ground -- while running 139 yards on the ground themselves. Their defense also sacked DangerRuss 4 times -- again notice the similarities? They also pressured him all day long.

The Cardinal offense completed 13 0f 25 for 168 yards ( which I mean come on, Drew, with just a little time, can do this with one had tied behind his back ) for 6.7 yards per pass. Cardinals TOP 37min to SEA 22 min. Again, notice the thematic similarities to the Saints?

And, finally, the SeaHawks helped with 2 turnovers 1 INT and 1 fumble and 9 penalties for 102 yards ( penalities being SOP for them ).

Given everything I read from that game -- we got this.

Talking about Line of Scrimmage, can anyone tell me who was starting at LT in that game?

hint: he's on the bench now :bng:

Hope we learned something from playing them last time.. can't walk in there with the same mistakes and a lot simpler play calling. The crowd won't be any less loud.

We made early mistakes and played scared the rest of the game.

If we eliminate the early mistakes, we have a very good shot at the upset.

I respectfully disagree about the scared part. I thought we played smart, rammed the ball down their throats, then took some shots downfield after we softened them up. The first INT I thought was Still's fault fir giving up on te route and ball. The second one was all Drew.

I was referring to the Seattle game.

i think our defensive line did get SOME pressure on russel, but, when we did, that lil' focker kept escaping, as he does so well. we also did a great job containing marshawn lynch.

i agree, our o-line got ate-up pretty bad and our running game wasnt that great, which, is due in part to us being pretty far behind fairly quickly.

i think the way our secondary, primarily the safeties, plays is going to be very important. jenkins needs to STAY AT HOME when russel scrambles, and trust his front seven, or russel will kill you over the top. he's got great accuracy on that deep ball. jenkins really does have a tendency to really jump when he thinks its a run. if we just trust roman to run up to stop any run, jenkens can stay home, play center field, and prevent that ball over the the top.

We will surely miss Vacarro. He played so well as the third safety.

No doubt, but, if we can get enough pressure on the front end -- it will help our ailing secondary.

agreed. but, i do have a new respect for seattles o-line. i had no idea they were so good before we played them. i think they have a 2013 all-conference lineman or two.

Everybody stay home on defense. Hard on the edges.
Make them "have to" drive the length of the field.
The more plays we force, the more ops we will have to make turnovers.
Offense has to be crisp and methodical.
Stretch them thin and run out of the one back set.
Our pass patterns have to develop quicker so Brees stays clean.
Seattle should be fresh in their minds - that's a good thing.
Two weeks off might leave them stale.

Re: The Last Time We Played Seattle

Maybe we played Seattle conservative the first time to not show them any of the tricks up our sleeve because we knew we would see them in the playoffs.

Re: The Last Time We Played Seattle

We went in to that game overconfident and unprepared.
We were all put off that Seattle was a 4 point favorite against us with our stellar prime time and (at the time) overall record.

Saturday we go in humbled and hungry.

I said it last week and will say it again: nothing matters if Brees does not play well.
I was very impressed with his post game interview, complimenting the O-line and taking responsibility for the picks.

Re: The Last Time We Played Seattle

Turning the ball over can not happen in this game. Saints need to play mistake free to have a chance at this upset. Seattle will be the hardest team to beat we have the possibility of playing throughout the entire playoffs, IMO.
