The fact that Seattle is expecting us to run the ball and preparing for it
makes me nervous. Throw the game film knowledge out the window that is not going to work now. They're ready for our run game. This is coming down to our defense, we need turnovers I believe to take this. Obviously Carroll and Harbaugh are playing a new game here, they have clearly caught on to this fad happening in the playoffs in recent memory. It unfortunately has to happen to us when otherwise we could have snuck up on them. I don't believe thats happening now.

I disagree. I doubt we run anymore than we did before the Eagles. You don't go changing up what got you this far this late and Pete knows it. The only wrench is Brees running now. He will do it with everything on the line so they will have to think about over pursuit. He's no Wilson but you have to respect those nice little chunks he gets.

Knowing it's coming is one thing, being able to stop it is something else. If the line plays the way it did against Philly they won't be able to stop it any better than Philly did. |

Thanks for the pics jay. Since it didn't come through I'm sure the last one was of our lone TD...

Who What Where Why When How.
Seattle might know How. They might think they know Who. But they do not know When and Where. We are not going to run the ball every down. We are not going to pass the ball every down. |
Re: The fact that Seattle is expecting us to run the ball and preparing for it
Stacking the box and daring Drew to throw.
Can't remember if that's ever happened since he's been a Saint. Most teams try to shut down one or two of the Saints receivers. I kinda like the thought of it. Sherman's one of the best CBs in the game today but he can only cover one guy at a time. And you know Stills, who is faster than Sherman, will be trying to stretch the coverage early and often. That should open up either Graham or Sproles. It'll be fun to see the way that plays out. |

Of course we're prepared we do run everything out of 8 man fronts anyway.

We all know Brees doesn't have a cannon but is more of a timing and finesse passer with great touch. How will that play out if there's wind gusts? I doubt Brees will be going downfield too often unless it's a "throw it in the vicinity of Graham who has a height advantage." I give the QB edge to RWilson. He's always a threat to take off with the rock, has Houdiniesque escapability and with the big mitts and high release, can pierce the winds much better than Brees. You won't find many games where you'd take another QB over Brees but given the supposed conditions of today's game, the nod has to go to RWilson for the above reasons. If you think about it critically, you'll realize I'm not typing while shaking Hawk pom poms and wearing Green/Blue shaded lenses. That's not how I roll. |

NFL Stats: by Team Category I'll let you look up his completion percentage over 20 yards. Most years it's the best in the NFL. Pretty good for a "finesse" passer, huh? (You really might want to look this stuff up before you post. It's pretty easy to find.) |

I am NOT talking about Brees completing quality touch and finesse passes in the confines of a 70 degree dome. We're discussing windy conditions where Brees' lack of velocity could be a detriment and thus, more checkdowns. I pull that 2011 link for verification and you may want to re-evaluate. Brees was tied for 3rd in 20+. They are completions, not attempts. Ne had 72, GB had 70, SD had 69, Saints had 69. You were way off on 40+. He didnt have #3..... NYG had 18, Det 16, Gb 16, zona 15, Ne 14, Oak 14, Ten 14, Cincy 11, texans 11, dallas 11, saints 11. 3rd? cmon! Besides, you should really calculate as a percentage of attempts where brees has 650+ avg over past 4 years. How do you explain being #19 in yds per completion THIS year? In conclusion, this is about todays wind oriented game, not the dome. It's not a put down to call brees a finesse passer with great touch. He moves defenders well with his eyes. He doesn't have a cannon. Cmon now. If you're going to quote stats please quote correctly and understand that it's not always about totals, but % |

Re: The fact that Seattle is expecting us to run the ball and preparing for it
I don't care if they know we're running.
Run the damn ball!! That's how you control the line of scrimmage, break down their defense, and keep their safeties and LB's guessing. Doesn't matter if we only get 2 yards. Eventually we'll get 6, then 8, then 12. Then we beat them with play-action. But if we don't run, we have NO CHANCE. |

I have but I can still be nervous. I usually have written off playoff upsets as game film knowledge of the losing opponent in the regular season and catching the other team offguard. I hope we win, but the town of Seattle has that team emotional and its because of 2006 sb. I usually do not believe a fanbase can have that much impact on how a team performs but it seems they do play a big role. If we win, there are going to be some devastated seahawks fans. |

WOW.... I don't really see how any of that determines how the Saints play. Unless you believe they are the better team. |
Re: The fact that Seattle is expecting us to run the ball and preparing for it
I was right Oak, we had to throw to have a chance. We almost won but only after we started chucking it. I know what lost us this game.
