Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State :bng:
Height: 6-5. Weight: 234. Projected 40 Time: 4.55. You may need to mute the music. His play speaks for itself. Would be an incredible addition to our WRs plus he likes to block. |
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
Still my ideal pick

Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
I don't know. I've seen him play, and he is pretty good and all. He's physical and has good hands, but not much speed and I'm not sure he's a good enough route runner to make up for that.
Watching guys like Colston and Toon trudge around the field is getting on my nerves. I see Benjamin as possibly another in that mold. |
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
He is graded to go in the first or second round, for me with a lack of speed its a bit high. You cant be certain he can get the separation needed at the highest level. If you want a big body receiver then wait till a little latter and take a look at
Devin Street,Pittsburgh,6-4/190lb(rounds 2-4) Cody Hoffman,BYU,6-4/215lb(Round 4-5) I brought them and a few other later picks that might be worth keeping a eye on http://blackandgold.com/saints/62855...-draft-31.html |
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
We need receivers with aptitude. I'm not saying he's not intelligent but from the interview the tea leaves say major project in our offense. I doubt he would see the field for a while. I also doubt he goes in the 1st, he's slow and after this season size is becoming less of an attribute as it once was. Refs are letting DBs get away with more and more. I hope we don't use any picks on receivers to be honest. Toon may come around and Morgan can play the physical game if he can stay on the field long enough.

NFL Draft Profile: Is imposing FSU receiver another Jon Baldwin? - KansasCity.com
I'm not saying I don't like the guy but he played in a very pass happy offense and he's physically more mature than everyone on the field. I think he's 23 or 24 years old? I think he got kept back twice in high school. The way his weight ballooned to 260 gives him a Mike Williams(USC) scare factor. In any other year some of these low second rounders/early 3rd could possibly be first rounders. I'm not so keen on taking Benjamin. I do think he can be a touchdown machine in the pros given his size, but for me personally, I'd question his explosiveness at the next level. |
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
I think his combine will cause him to fall down draft boards, the way he moves just kinda seems... awkward.

Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
Definitely mute the music
|
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
Still a bit raw ... pass.
|
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
Reminds me of a former WR project named Arrington. I would guess the same outcome. Pass.
|
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
If he blows it out on the 40 and the agility drills at the combine, he'll geaux in the Top 12 picks...
|
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
He takes a lot of plays off, and it took him a while to really blossom. We need immediate impact. I rather trade our 1st pick for Josh Gordon.

Rather a beast corner/olb

Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
If a wr is taken I want a speed guy, theres big bodies to be had later + a guy like Kenny Britt fits the big body mold for a bigger target, he's proven that when his suspensions are over an he can play he's a stud, being on a loser team + plus playing for the best qb in the biz is enough to square down and stop the bs, but thats how i think not he, so I'd look to get a speedy WR if available at 27 if not trade down we have no 2nd find speed later and go FA for a big body guy a la britt

Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
drops way to many easy passes that the few great or key grabs just can not cover up. sloppy route running to boot. pass in the first and probably the second also.

Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State

Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State

If he or Cooks are not the answer then cfb is down.
|
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
he is an over glorified TE that runs sloppy routes and drops a ton of passes.
a lot like Jimmy but not as good media hyped player in book with scouts going what if...... High risk player with high rewards possibilities Brandon Coleman WR Rutgers 6-6 220 would be a safer pick in the lower rounds and have just as high rewards possibility in the long run |

I really wish we had plucked Da'Rick Rogers off waivers during the season.
|
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
Reminds me a little of Anquan Boldin.
If he can play like Boldin in the pros he will be a steal for someone. On the other hand, if he plays like J.J. Stokes.... |

most say he is a day two pick others have him as a day 3. i think you maybe right 3/4 with this being a deep WR class in the draft combine and pro days should give us a better feel. big thing in my book is his smarts. two-time conference all-academic team selection and is one semester away from earning his degree but either way i would not pick either one except if he is viewed as a solid project by the saints |
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman believes FSU's Kelvin Benjamin is more boom-or-bust than any other WR in the class.
"Benjamin will make personnel folks' chins hit the floor when they first see him," Feldman writes. "Thing is, he's even more raw than Evans and it took him a while to get a sense of FSU's routes/offense and he seems like more of a project." Feldman adds this would make him leery of Benjamin. The massive wideout will be 23 in February and slowly progressed before bursting out in his final season. He still has inconsistencies at the catch point and had a drop rate of over nine percent. Good 6th round pick.

Sammy Watkins, Clemson, WR Mike Evans, Texas A&M, WR Those three are supposedly the cream of the crop. Its debatable where the rest falls. Personally I think Jarvis Landry belongs in that group as well. Easily the best hands in the draft and actually fits our offense to a T. |
Re: Man Among Boys - WR Kevin Benjamin 6-5 234lbs Florida State
Marquise Lee, USC, WR may be there in round 1 - off year and all
after that you a few WR in the mix for top 5. Over looked and disrespected is Jarvis Landry Jarvis Landry is the most polished WR in college football. he would fit this offense beautifully. i usually avoid LSU players but Jarvis has the makings for a very long productive pro career. i see a Boldin mentality in his style of play. Excellent route and knows how to beat a defender to make the catch. ok he needs to beef up a bit physically. But he is Pro ready and can have an impact from day 1 Kevin Benjamin is a project player with hype driving him up the boards. A player the term " upside " scares me away from in round one. His floor is so low |
