New Pro Bowl rules

I have a feeling some of these are in place to help sell the idea to implement them in the regular season. I would not put it passed Goodell to try and get it done.

They are limiting coverage to cover 2 and press only
No kickoffs. Each team starts on the 25
2 minute warnings in every quarter and the ball turns over to the other team at the start of each quarter instead of only at the half.

What do you think? Should they be in place in the regular season?

Re: New Pro Bowl rules

Seriously, Roger needs to just leave the game alone!

He's ****ed it up enough already, and now he's trying to extend the amount of teams in the playoffs and take away kickoffs/PATS; whatever... :bs:

That 2 minute warning and possession change each quarter would be an atrocity.

That seems like a pretty radical change in how the game plays. Any idea why they would turn the ball over at the quarters too? Are they hoping to encourage more prevent defenses?

I guess real game intensity applies only when hitting Bress.

This is ridiculous. Not only that RT. Joe Thomas is joking around. And those hits are low. (that JJ watt hit was dangerous)

They need to bench him before someone's star QB gets hurt...he's not even trying...

Drew to Jimmy, what else is new  They like picking on Brett Grimes, AKA the Kevin Hart of CBs..... first in Atl, then in Mia now the PRO BOWL!!!!

Is he still in the game? I just flipped over and saw the Brees/Graham TD and changed it soon after

They switched to Rivers. Probably going to be Foles at start of the 2nd half and maybe Brees will end the game.

I think they believe it will make the game more exciting when offenses go into the two minute drill at the end of the quarter. Making it more important to score before time runs out and the other team gets it?

Re: New Pro Bowl rules

Unfortunately, Brees had to play yet another game with no protection of any sort.

When all was said and done, though, probably the best Pro Bowl in a long time. I wouldn't really want any of the new rules implemented in the regular game but it made the exhibition game fun as heck.

Re: New Pro Bowl rules

The PB rules are not a test for regular season.. Too absurd.

In the first Qtr. Drew looked just like Drew does for all of our first Qtr games. Yep... I am gonna burn on Drew.

You have LeSean McCoy in the back field and you 3-out passing... TWICE?

I think the new format, made the game a lot more interesting to me, the players seemed to have responded well to it. It wasn't confusing, at all to me and was for a change entertaining at the end......

There was definitely some hitting going on.

Probably payback for recent Saints victories over the Cowboys. I'm not sure I understand the incentive for O-line guys from other teams to protect a QB who regularly beats them during the regular season. Probably why Brees made sure to get all of the Saints players on his team.

A qb doesn't really "beat" an opposing teams offensive lineman. It would be different if he was playing a defensive tackle or someone who had manhandled him earlier in the year but he would really not have much of a reason to tank plays just because the Saints defense was beating him.

I agree with you Oak. I really hope this is not a sign that drew is starting to slow down. I know you said the playcalling was stupid but I also heard there were a lot of short passes.
A.qb like Brees should shine in the Pro Bowl, especially with the rules they play under.

Yes... Again he made a lot of short under thrown passes. Also again just like the regular season he was always under heavy pressure....

Just my thoughts but I think the offseason will be just what he needs. You get blindsided enough as a QB and you start shortening your throwing motion so you don't fumble on the arm cock... Like we saw against Seattle. Do it enough and it becomes a rut. He needs to rework his mechanics.

Even though he did have a few more interceptions than normal one thing I didn't see this year that I saw a lot of last year is him fumbling or throwing a pick because he tried to force the ball by just pitching it off as he was going down. Seems like he was a lot more willing just to take the sack this year than chance turning it over that way. Hopefully he will take a long look at his mistakes over this offseason and fix that as well.
A revamped offensive line wouldn't hurt either

The comment about INTs is another one that may be because of the timing of the ITS he threw but in reality Drew had his lowest INT % (1.8) this season since 2004 tieing his all time low % of INTs/Attempts. As far as for total INTs he threw 12 and that brother is his third lowest number of INTs other than 2009/2006 (11) and 2004 (7).

Drew's passer Rating this season was a career 4th best at 104.7. Other than his completion percentage being down by 2.4% 2013 was a better year for Drew than 2009.

All I heard this year is how many INTS he was throwing. I never did take the time to look at his stats but it seemed to me that he was having one of his better seasons as for as taking care of the ball. and far less than last year.

Last year it seemed that every one he threw was due to a stupid decision and it seemed like almost all of them were avoidable and his fault. I didn't see much of that this year.
Like I said I just hope the accuracy issue isn't an issue and is just a result of shoddy protection. His accuracy is his money maker. He doesn't have the arm Manning or even Brady does and we don't have that elite receiver that can make up for an errant pass.

Mehhhhh Drew will be fine. Too many people in too many different camps for me to keep track of all of them and 90% of them are without logic that I can follow.

When I see people referencing any of our RBs having fumbling issues and the stats for team fumbles in the running game is a grand total of 1 in the regular season, putting us first in class, I lose faith in what people "think" they see.

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorysta...USHING_FUMBLES

We had line and receiver issues and Drew still pulls out a 4th best career season.
