Why not indeed its his job to lose

Now i have disagree here

who is on the roster that gives you the warm fuzzies when Streif goes down? I have not seen a single back up on the OL i want as a starter by any stretch of the imagination. Strief needs to be retained. we need to draft a RT early in the draft. Streif can finish out his carreer as the #1 back up on the OL once the young guy is ready start.

Streifs ability to start RT or LT is a rare ability in the NFL. Plus that move would allow streif a few additional years on the team. he has been a team player since he arrived. he deserves to go out in style not with an ax.

Streif has never held the team hostage on contract talks and always had a fair market value in his contract. maybe even a bit on the low side.

I think he wants to stay will do all he can to be a saint in 2014.
The only concern I have with Strief is will his knees hold up.
