Rotoworld...Team Needs & Roster Rankings

5. New Orleans Saints

OL: Terron Armstead showed enough late-season promise to enter 2014 entrenched on Drew Brees' blind side, but C Brian De La Puente and RT Zach Strief are free agents, and RG Jahri Evans is reaching the especially expensive years of his deal. Drew Brees' "window" is closing at age 35. The Saints could make one or two more Super Bowl runs by upgrading his protection.

CB: Keenan Lewis emerged as a borderline-shutdown corner in his first season with the Saints, but 32-year-old bookend Jabari Greer is a likely cap casualty after tearing his left ACL in November, and 2010 first-round pick Patrick Robinson is a bust. Corey White was badly stretched as a starter late last season. Cornerback could easily be GM Mickey Loomis' first-round target.

LB: Junior Galette is a steal on his $1.4 million salary, but the Saints are fairly thin behind him. Returning from last June's ACL tear, Victor Butler can only be viewed as a wild card. Parys Haralson is a free agent. Another impact edge rusher could give DC Rob Ryan's unit a big spark.

S: Kenny Vaccaro was a first-round hit, but Malcolm Jenkins is likely to depart in free agency, and Roman Harper isn't worth his $3.15 million owed in salary and bonuses. Safety is a critical position in Ryan's defense, as he frequently played three at the same time this season en route to a No. 2 finish against the pass. Even oft-used No. 4 safety Rafael Bush is a restricted free agent.

As fair and unbiased an assessment as you can get, I agree with him that cornerback should be drafted.... But if baptiste, nor Keith McGill's draft stock rise... I would go after a new pass rusher or free safety first.

Tackle is the highest priority

BPA at OLB, CB, OT, WR, S or C. But, if the TE from Washington falls to 27, and the TOP guys at the mentioned positions are gone, I wouldn't hesitate to take him. The draft has real quality through round 4 and talent can be found all the way through.

Here's a fun draft game.

We already have 3 tackles on the roster(excluding Armstead).

I agree with your analysis. Butler could fill the OLB, P.Rob or White might be ready for the #2 CB.

Armstead looks solid at RT and there are currently several options for RT. Where do we find a center? This might be the biggest hole on the O-line. There are a couple of prospects in the draft that our members are high on. Alex Mack will want too much money.(we're pinching pennies) Regardless, I want a road grader for our run game!

A speedy receiver down the field would open up Moore and Colston again on the slant routes. Henderson and Meachem kept our middle of the field pretty clear of defenders that were all headed deep. We need a deep threat and Stills isn't it yet.

We need to draft a ball hawking game winning FS to mix with Vaccaro.
I'd love to see our safeties run free while our corners are playing man to man.

So, with what we have in house I think we need to start with corner or safety and draft both early. Center needs to be addressed early as well.

Well the draft is going to put everyone off when the Saints draft a WR in round one.

Meltdown inevitable.

If he was BPA I wouldn't complain. Drafting for need typically gets you a pretty high draft pick year in and year out.

Think Stills could be that guy next season? He's fast and he did lead the league in yards/catch this year.
