Degenerative knee condition.

Only practiced one day a week last year.

No thanks.

Re: Louis Delmas anyone?

He played in all 16 games last season. cost of 1.2m, The Broncos are looking at him also. He has 3 INTs (tied for 8th in the league) in 2013 an 49 tackles.

Only 1 INT behind Lewis and graded out Below R. Bush but above K Vaccaro last season.

Re: Louis Delmas anyone?

2 INTs against Jay Cutler in one game. I saw that game and Jay was throwing all over the field.

This is how you fill the holes before the draft.

Hard to ignore this guy's injury history but he is a damn sight better than Malcolm Jenkins. If the price is right and we can still commit to Bush long-term I'm all for it.

That sounds as bad news. But he is a good player so I'm happy if we at least take a look.

I like it.

Didn't know Vaccaro was recovering from a serious knee injury... Good job Florio LOL. Anyways, if Delmas passes a physical then why not? Can't be any worse a free safety than Jenkins.

I hope I do not have to watch M. Jenkins dive at a runners feet with his head down and the runner jumps over him ONE MORE TIME.

The guy needs remedial Tackling for Dummies!

It seems like the only plays Jenkins makes are when he runs down a receiver who's running toward the end zone... Roy Williams in 2010 and Vincent Jackson in 2012 for example. So I'm in favor of having safeties who don't have to chase WR's 50+ yards to make a highlight-reel play.

Pass on Louis Delmas...

I'm actually surprised we're bringing him in for a visit... pleasantly surprised. Not due the fact we could possibly sign him, but it says something about our ability to go sign free agents in general while still having Graham's contract looming over our heads.

Re: Louis Delmas anyone?

I know he's got some injury history, but when healthy he'd be the 2nd best safety on our roster.

I guess it all depends on how much he wants.

Free agent FS Louis Delmas is visiting the Saints on Thursday.
Delmas visited the Steelers last week, and has drawn interest from the Broncos and Falcons. With Roman Harper cut and free agent Malcolm Jenkins expected to walk, the Saints are in the market for safety help. Delmas was an every-down player for the Lions last season, but the Saints almost certainly wouldn't be counting on lighting striking twice. Knee issues limited Delmas to 19 combined games between 2011-12. Feb 27 - 2:52 PM

And who wouldn't be? We aren't gonna sign a 8 million player like Byrd, so we're looking at mid-tier safeties.

I trust Ryan and Loomis to decide if his price/performance is in line with what we're looking for.

I don't know how much gas he has left in the tank but it does say we need FS help.

Or.

Grahams contract is not over our heads and that decision has already been made, just can not do anything about it till the 11th.

I'm actually not sure it speaks to anything, there are a 1/2 dozen scenarios that could play out and we need to be prepared to option any one of them.

Don't kick too hard. Those knees may buckle.

I doubt a decision has been made... they're negotiating. All the posturing that's been going back and forth isn't our style and the unwarranted attention doesn't do anyone well. No one wants the negative attention especially with our recent history. Sure there's plenty of scenarios that could play out, but bringing in free agents does say something.

We're open for business.

The one biggest issue that hasn't been decided yet but should be today, that will steer the rest of the Saints decisions is the 2014 Salary Cap.

Negotiations are ongoing presently and the actual salary cap could be anywhere between 129-135m. I know the negotiation term is somewhat confusing as the Salary Cap number is believed to be based on revenue numbers but there is a little more to it than that.

Example: (as close as I can speculate)
There are actually TWO cap numbers. There is the Compensation Cap which is based on revenue, and there is the Salary Cap which is based off of negotiation.

E.g. The 2014 Compensation cap based off of revenue calculation may be $150M, but the NFLPA has to negotiate what percentage of that goes to Salary, and what percentage of that will go to Benefits (medical, retirement, etc...) So basically you start with $150m, determine 11% will go to Benefits and 89% will go to Salary eg 132m salary cap.

I'm going to leave all that math to you Oak. I'm not even going to try to understand it and it's just numbers that's going to give me a headache. I'll leave that to Loomis and the rest of you number junkies.
