1. Texans (Exile) - Round 1 Pick 1
How did we get so bad? My name is Rick Smith and I was supposed to be a Superbowl winning Executive GM by now. I'm not happy.

With the first pick overall in the B&G Mock draft the Houston Texans select: Let's hear some reasoning first.

Our needs consist of OLine, a good Safety, another RB; oh, and an obvious need at a franchise QB. Case Keenum will be on our roster and will serve short duty. He is not our future franchise QB though. Our defense is solid with exception to our secondary. Both CBs need upgrades. Swearinger needs a compliment at Safety. But there is no CB or S worthy of a first overall pick.

Clowney is an intriguing option. However, we feel he doesn't quite fit in our defensive coordinators plan. Sammy Watkins is the other choice we feel could be a #1 overall. Perhaps the best WR in a draft since Calvin Johnson.

Our choice is QB. We eliminated Manziel early and dubbed him Johnny Goofball. Teddy Bridgewater was close but there seems to be a lack of leadership our head coach requires.

Selection: Blake Bortles - QB - UCF : Bortles has all the tools to become a franchise QB and we liken him to Big Ben in Pittsburgh. He may take a year to grow but with Keenum on the roster we will have that luxury if required. Big, strong arm and accurate as a thrower. His 6'5" frame will adjust well to the NFL and he COMPETES (as in combine participation). He will get an immediate chance to compete for the starting job in training camp and use all of the current weapons at his disposal to turn this franchise around quickly.
