Where should the New Orleans Saints look for a backup quarterback?

1 Attachment(s)
The NFL free agency scramble begins March 11. And despite a bump in the salary cap number, the New Orleans Saints aren't expected to be big bidders this year.

As Larry Holder mentions in the initial offering of our look at free agents at each position group, the Saints have some work to do in holding on to their own players.

Part of that job will be to fill the impending vacancy in the backup quarterback position. Luke McCown is slated to become an unrestricted free agent. And despite mutual interest from both sides about a return engagement, an agreement has not been reached.

So, the question goes to you. What should the Saints do to back up Drew Brees in the 2014 season? Should McCown be re-signed? Should Ryan Griffin be given a chance? Or should another established veteran be brought in to handle that spot.

Ryan Griffin should be given a chance? Or bring back Chase.

Let's roll with Griffin. Bring in some other journeyman QB to help get us through the preseason games but just keep Griffin around once the season starts.

Time to get brave. Griffin can be our BU, we don't have the valuable cap space to have two back ups.

Ryan Griffin was promoted to the squad to protect him from other teams nabing him off the PS. I think he is SP pet project

I would not be surprised to see the saints take a QB late if that player is the BPA on the board.

when it comes to QB projects in SP i trust

Draft next year. We are ok with Griffin I think. Next year we can draft Breese eventual replacement.

Just like keeping Chase as the main backup in 2010 while drafting Sean Canfield. I can totally see Griffin being our new Chase Daniel.

We have some definite needs right now and not sure burning a draft pick on another QB is one if them. I do agree I can see Sean doing just that.

I would have liked to see Griffin get to play when we were getting our a$$ handed to us by Seattle in the regular season, I believe he will be our next qb.
