Re: Could Sproles contract be next in line to be terminated?

Goodbye Darren! Thanks for all the great things you did for this team!

Struggling to get used to what feels like a mass exodus of our favourite players, although its not really I guess. Already a few familiar names that won't be on the sidelines next season. Just hope the Coaches and Front office know what they are doing!

I'm guessing thats their job and they have made some good decisions in the past.

Still a little surprised that DS is going though. :(

GEAUX SAINTS.

Time to trim the fat and get some young fast athletic players to compete with the Mighty NFC West.

Why would we cut Bunk and Hawthorne?
Both of them save just over $1ml in cap space each but we would be paying them over $4ml each in dead money.

Who you going to get to replace them for under $2ml when you already need a new starting C,RT and need depth on the O-line,RB,CB,WR

He was definitely fast aswell. Few backs in the NFL had his explosion. But he lost a step last year, and it showed. I am only shocked that we couldn't trade him. Still not far removed from being an extremely productive player, and I thought for sure we could get a mid round pick for him. Releasing him seems like a waste, but what can you do? We have guys who think they deserve more than they're worth, and with limited options you have to bite the bullet.

The writing on the wall tells me were going with a power run game, I love it.

A power run game with no C or good level starting RT as things stand is a worry.

Re: Could Sproles contract be next in line to be terminated?

till Drew restructure this is what happens to a team that pays so much to just one player. cuts have to made. so far they hurt but we can survive. the next ones will be harder to take i think

lesson learned?

DO NOT OVERPAY JIMMY

All excellent cuts and all one year too late. If these cats had been cut a year ago, we'd easily have beaten Seattle.

Looks like Loomis took my advice and is finally doing his job. Bout time.

Now cut PT, Bunkley and Hawthorne and I can call it a night.

Of all the players listed i fear PT getting cut the most

others are contract issues making it harder to justify money wise. but impact on the team? PT cut will hurt the most

We need draft choices!

Re: Could Sproles contract be next in line to be terminated?

Take a deep breath everyone. Yes some of these are shocking but they were predicted months ago.

When something surprising happens like this you should take a long hard look at the source.

As far as I know we ALL have plenty of faith in Loomis and Payton. No?

We have all complained about our predictability. No?

Those two have worked this team over before haven't they?

Payton and Loomis love to find and use niche players. Well changing the play book and the predictability requires different players.

Way to take it to a personal level... classy move! http://smileys.on-my-web.com/reposit...ers/no-218.gif

Back to the subject at hand... I don't see any reason to outright cut Bunkley nor Hawthorne. Both played well last season and cutting them wouldn't improve the cap situation versus the strength of the roster one bit.

Well son of a beotch. I was only gone about 12 hours this time, and now Sproles is gone? Holy Crap! We are gutting the team. I guess Loomis and Payton have plans. Sad to see ya go Sproles, but I guess buisiness is business. All I know, is that Jimmy Graham and Drew Brees better play Balls-To-The-Walls next season. 100 million dollars....Geez.

Riaton,
My guess is that our ace is either already on the team (Cadet, Morgan) or in the upcoming draft however Dexter McCluster does have a nice ring to it.

Re: Thanks for the memories Darren

Sproles was a great back, but he definitely lost something over the past year. I hate seeing him and Moore leaving the Saints, but the time has come to retool the offense. We played well last year, but its not quite Superbowl material and changes have to be made. It's tough though when its your favorite players that get caught in the shuffle. Sproles will find a new home, as will Lance, and they will be strong contributors to their new teams.

Don't overlook the fastest player on the team. Kenny Stills.... Who also happens to have good enough hands to have the lowest drop rate on the team.

Don't think Sproles ever fully recovered from his concussion he suffered vs the Jets.

what a huge void this leaves. i hold a slim hope that darren is is resigned after he tests the market at a cap friendly salary. if not sign a one year deal else where and returns when the following year when drew can redo his contract.

thanks and i am holding out hope this is not the last we see of him in B&G

Re: Thanks for the memories Darren

If we couldn't do it in 2011 with Sproles it's not happening now. The screens and only passing to Graham needed to stop. Power running with 2 backs in rotation with PA passing will do us much better. Spread out the passing as needed. I think we need to upgrade the OL, not keep it the same. Cadet can play as our screen/passing back.

Are a sure he's really gone? His name is still on the roster and they haven't said anything about him being cut on the official website. They took Lance's name off immediately.

You were the key........you were the catalyst! We couldn't have done it without you.

Damn Darren, I always thought you were better than that. We protect vulnerable women. Not take advantage of them.

Re: Thanks for the memories Darren

It will be hard if not impossible to find an impact player of his caliber both on and off the field. the offense must have the other players step up their game in a big way to shoulder the lost.

class act all the way around.

Well, on the bright side, the Skins are my second favorite team two weeks out of the year. Those two weeks being their games against Dallas so...

RugbySaint means Darren Sharper.

We are talking about Darren Sproles who WAS a very GOOD guy here and played some good, hard ball for the Saints these 4 years.

He is now officially a PhillyEagle. Yuck!!!

I wish, if it had to be, anywhere ,somewhere but there.
I wish the best for Sproles.
He was a big player and did well.

His wife...ehhhh, shake her a break. Like many people, turing to social media to post your every thought especially when sad, mad, glad, frustrated, whatever is not good.
I guess the lady really was happy for her husband and his success with N.O Saints. I guess they, she really liked living in N.O. at least part of the year. I guess she felt N.O Saints was a better fit for her husband to do well in for his career.

I prefer this message of hers rather than shouts of glee about leaving N.O. and the Saints.

They, he, is going to the unknown. Yeah, that is something. PEagles, I do not like the team. I wish the best for Sproles. I hope he continues to have a good career.
