Joe Morgan a free agent
Saints decline to tender restricted free agent Joe Morgan a contract.
Larry Holder via Twitter Probably will be back though. |
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
He's barely been an actual player on this team. He has what... 10 catches in 3 years?! It's definitely not a loss considering most of the time we don't have him anyway.
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
He really played well late in the one season he was healthy
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
Yea he has shown promise, but so did Arrington. He will be back if we can get him cheap, if not no biggie
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
I will always that td catch when he upended eric wright. That was one of the baddest plays a saint made to me at least.

Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
Awesome... we must be $30 million under the cap now!
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
For some reason, my mind read the title as Joe Horn a free agent and I got all confused.

Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
He came up big on a handful of plays during the latter half of the 2012 season averaging nearly 40 yards per catch. Sure the sample size is much too small, but that's some flash that deserves another look, considering he didn't play a snap in 2013 due to injury (I think Vacarro took him out for the year around the same time Ingram took out Butler in training camp...smh..). I know Stills is the guy who's the long term replacement for Moore, but Morgan definitely showed enough flash to warrant sticking around. He's shown us more than Toon.

Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
I wish him the best - I don't think we're going to miss him tho.
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
Nick Toon coming soon thAt is all...
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
Where is this 'Stills is Moore's replacement' idea coming from?! I see it all the time but the two are nowhere near the same type of receiver. If last season was any indication then Stills is way more of a deep threat type of WR... A better version of Joe Morgan.

Receiver in the first? Sean loves his toys. He will get one early I am sure.

Now that you mention it I vaguely remember seeing one of them say that. They know better than I do... I just never thought the two were comparable. I see Stills as a replacement for Henderson/Meachem/Morgan... In other words, a fast WR who can hopefully develop into a more sharp route runner. |

Anybody else appreciate the excellent blocking on that play?

And that's a good thing. Actually I think he is a fair combination of both types, he's got the shiftiness that Moore had and the big play threat. I like Joe Morgan a lot if healthy - but he has never been healthy. $1.5 million is a lot to spend on a player with more games spent on IR than career catches. |

his stats for the season - 1 catch, 4 yards, 4 drops and 2 interceptions came off those dropped passes when he batted them up in the air no thanks... |
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
I absolutly have nothing against Morgan, AA could not stay healthy but if Morgan could I would be all for keeping him, dynamic when healthy!! Looks like a WR in the 2nd or a FA!!

Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
Looks like that knee injury was more significant than we thought?
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
Stills is nothing like Morgan.
Stills - 1 season / 32 receptions / 5 TDs / 641 yards Morgan - 3 seasons / 10 receptions / 3 TD /379 yards |

Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
Morgan played well at the end of the season, but towards the start he was dropping short passes like crazy
stills is the all round better player, he can make catches all over the field |
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
He'll probably still come back to the Saints. Sean Payton and Micky Loomis are being enticed by skill players in the Draft and free agency I suppose.

Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
I hope you are right.
He has the talent and tools but lack of play time must be hurting his development. Remember Stills was dropping plenty in tge preseason but really stepped up in the season. A big year for Toon |

then vs houston he caught a deep pass with one hand behind the defenders head and then absolutely destroyed pro bowl CB jonathan joseph on a corner-post route TD Toon has yet to show me anything other than catching a deep pass against tracy porter which is the precise reason we let porter go in the first place |
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
Haha, I must be getting old.
I seem to remember there being loads of complaints on drops. It definitely time to put up for Toon as I can see at least one WR drafted and a few tyres kicked in camp |

I've got a feeling odell beckham is still going to be on the board, if there are no other more important needs and we are going best player available, I think SP will choose him |
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
Going to be a interesting few days in May.
C/OT/CB/WR/RB all lack a starter or depth. |
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
I just read Joe is in Kansas City for a visit.
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
I cant see Loomis matching any offer above nearly minimum.
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
The only reason anyone wants Morgan is because they are dumb enough to believe because he had a few good plays with the saints he'll do it for them too. Not the case.
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
He's a good player but I wouldn't depend on a player who hasn't played enough.
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
Bring Him Back.
|
Re: Joe Morgan a free agent
His inability to stay healthy and DWI sealed his fate.
