Report: Redskins trying to trade for Darren Sproles
Darren Sproles may not want to be traded, but that’s not stopping teams from trying to pick him up in a deal with the Saints.
The Redskins are reportedly one of those teams. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Washington is “making a push” to acquire the diminutive, versatile back and put him in a backfield that already includes Robert Griffin III and Alfred Morris. Sproles wouldn’t take many carries away from Morris, but he would give head coach Jay Gruden an offensive piece to mix and match with the others in his offense to help make Griffin’s 2014 more successful than his 2013. Andre Roberts has already joined Pierre Garçon at wideout, the promising Jordan Reed will be at tight end and adding Sproles to that group would make for a deeper unit than the Redskins had last season. There’s no word on the likelihood that Sproles winds up in Washington for the 2014 season or how many other teams might still be in the running for Sproles’ services. Re: Report: Redskins trying to trade for Darren Sproles
Only thing I have read is a 6th.
Not that bad, similar to Boldin in the 9ers trade. Ageing vet, one year left on deal. Having two 6th would be great. Possibility to offer both for a late 5th or just add depth. If Colvin(CB) is still there in the 5th id try and package them both for him. Top rated corner prior to a injury.Even if you have to place him on IR for a year he is worth a pair of 6th rounders. |
Re: Report: Redskins trying to trade for Darren Sproles
if it is a bidding war then it may get as high as a 4th but i doubt it. draft is just freaking deep but the well might be dry by the fourth for getting a player as well rounded as but full of risk. here you know what your getting, impact.
Boldin trade probably has most front offices kicking themselves for letting that one happen. i hope the saints are. |
Re: Report: Redskins trying to trade for Darren Sproles
Rotoworld article says Saints are looking for a third or fourth round pick for Sproles.
"The Saints are holding onto Sproles as they try to squeeze out the highest bid. He would qualify as an upgrade on Roy Helu and Chris Thompson as the passing back in new coach Jay Gruden's pass-happy scheme, but the Redskins aren't exactly overflowing with draft picks. They lost their first-rounder in the Robert Griffin III trade and only have one pick in each of the following six rounds. New Orleans seems to think they get can get a third- or fourth-rounder for Sproles." NFL | Report: Redskins trying to trade for Sproles - Rotoworld.com |

Re: Report: Redskins trying to trade for Darren Sproles
We want a third or fourth, teams are hoping for a sixth. Screams of a low fifth rounder.
