Zach Strief Visiting Dolphins

Miami Dolphins in talks with free-agent offensive linemen and... | www.palmbeachpost.com

"The Dolphins, who have several holes on their offensive line, also have reached out to former New Orleans right tackle Zach Strief, a source said.

Although Strief, 30, has never made the Pro Bowl, he was graded by Pro Football Focus as the league’s top right tackle in 2013."

Losing him will hurt. I hope we find a way to keep him, but I think we simply get outbid. He's gonna get a lot of money thrown his way.

Never realized he was 30 already ...

Time for new blood.

Agreed
Gets alot of unfair criticism.
Im not to bothered about loosing DLP but for the right money Strief would be worth keeping if possible. He is 30 now though so cant really blame him for looking for the best paid deal.

O-linemen don't age as fast as other positions. Most play into their mid 30's.

He's probably got 4 or 5 more years left in him

Re: Zach Strief Visiting Dolphins

This is the time for him to make his money though.
The market doesn't seem great for the players this year so I was hoping we could maybe keep him.

Saw a tweet earlier that according to the PA we are $2.8ml under cap.

Need sone restructures to keep him and even more to get the rookies snd practise squads in.
Personally I doubt we see much else above minimum depth contracts and draft players unless a trade comes in.

Yeah, without some fairly large restructures it looks like the big spending in free-agency may be over.

Looks like the bargain bin from here on out

8 weeks till the draft.
Its driving me ip the wall. I want some football

Re: Zach Strief Visiting Dolphins

Well we better find some good lineman in the draft. We prob just lost 2 starters.

Losing strief would be a real shame, he and evans anchored the right side of that line

Mickey can only do so much though, cant sign everyone

Re: Zach Strief Visiting Dolphins

Think we would miss Strief at first, but just like Strief replaced Stinchcomb I think the same thing would happen here. I would hate having to wait 6 or 8 weeks for the o-line to gel but I guess that's going to be a yearly thing from now on.

Zach Strief, the top remaining free agent RT, informed the Dolphins that he has decided not to do a visit with them; no explanation given.

Or he remembers the stories Drew Brees told of a physical with the dolphins that lasted over 5 hours and they still didn't trust his health after that

Re: Zach Strief Visiting Dolphins

Not sure how Loomis could pull it off but Strief and Browner at the expense of Robinson and some restructuring and a long term deal with low cap hit for Jimmy.

Can it be done

Did Incognito have any influence with this?

My guess is that he's close to agreeing with the Saints

A Miami post writer is saying Strief expects to stay with Saints.

Free agent RT Zach Strief is expected to re-sign with the Saints.

Strief passed on visiting the Dolphins, and NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports there's "mutual interest" in a new deal in New Orleans. Miami would have been his first visit. He'll likely re-up with the Saints some time in the next 24 hours.

If we are keeping Strief then losing DLP is much, MUCH less of a problem than it would've been if they both left. Start getting Lelito ready, snag an OL in the draft for depth and we're good to go.

Re: Zach Strief Visiting Dolphins

Wouldn't mind them drafting a center to replace DLP in round 5 or 6

Tackle Zach Strief never set up a visit with Dolphins as interest from Saints continues, agent says | NOLA.com

Exactly. I'd much rather keep Strief than DLP. I think we could do much better at center. There. I said it.

I like it, now the saints dont have to take an ot early in the draft. Take one in the mid round and we're good. Focus on the defense and WR and the center in the mid rounds.

Re: Zach Strief Visiting Dolphins

I'd be fine with the Saints trying to replace both Strief and DLP, but if they try to re-sign one of them - I'm sure glad it's Strief.
