Should Rob Ryan try and bring in Anthony Spencer?

If I'm correct, I believe Anthony Spencer is still a free agent. I think it would be a smart move to at least bring him in for a vet minimum. That way ( watch this lol) Sean Payton can get his offensive playmaker in the first round. With Gallette, Butler, and Spencer I think the front 7 will be complete and Rob can fully implement his 3-4 Defense. # RiseoftheWHODATS

I wouldn't mind for the right price. But I still hope we draft a CB in round 1.

I just know they had interest in him last season. And he is proven under Robs scheme. We still don't know about Victor.

CB in the 1st or trade down for Verett at the top of the 2nd. Usually too expensive to pay for the better starting CBs as Free Agents. Usually too hard/uncommon to draft them mid- to low rounds. Must draft at a need position.

You can't draft a need position. You always go BPA. Draft is to much of a gamble. You draft someone you are going to need to start and they turn out a bust day one you're screwed.

right now I think we are still looking at drafting a WR as BPA. Granted the first pick hasn't even been made yet, lol.

Yep.

I agree, draft BPA in the first round. Beside a CB is not something that we are in dire needs of. With Byrd Vaccaro & Bush playing middle field and slot, they can mop up anything that White or Robinson spills in terms of coverage mishaps. Our defense is fine, our offense is what needs help.

What smoke are you cracking? Spencer is one year removed from a pro bowl level, just because he tore his ACL doesn't mean he is going to settle for vet minimum.

The fact he's not under contract suggests many have forgotten previous year's performance or have reservations about his recovery; sounds like a prove it contract to me...

Agreed. He's gotta prove he's still got it.

It's been almost two weeks since Free agency opened up, if his own team hasn't brought him back in then why would he command a significant amount of change. He would be lucky to get a prove it contract in this day and age of the NFL investing so heavily in rookies.... I think it would benefit him and NO if he gave it a shot. Besides he knows Robs defense like the back of his hand. I mean why not bring him in?

He could be a good player here. He would be great at shoring up a good looking secondary. I am wondering why he is still available? We do wonders here with retreads.

I have stated I want to sign Anthony Spencer multiple times on this site, I'm not against bringing him in, I just don't think anybody will be able to at vet minimum. And just because he is still on the market means teams are blowing him off? Well does that mean Jared Allen isn't a good pass rusher?

I don't think CB is as important as it was now that we have Byrd. Byrd and Vaccaro together will help our CBs a lot. I also think White will be a little better this year. I think WR should be first priority and CB next.

I would definitely add a center to that wish-list.

I really have a feeling that if there is a player available that is dropping who the Saints like they will trade up for him because of the extra draft pick as compensation. .. I like Kyle Fuller personally... Best CB in the draft

I would pass and we don't have the money right now.

He will get above league minimum even if he has to wait till after the draft. Somebody will miss the draft pick they wanted or will loose a pass rusher to the inevitable ACL tear in mini camp and give him a couple of million.

Yeah, I'm still hoping for a CB in the first round too. If not, I'd like to see us get Shazier or Attachou. We have a bunch of good players, but what separates us from the elite teams is the fact that we don't have any play makers, any difference makers. We have no one that a team needs to game plan for. When we get that, we'll be unstoppable.
