Asante Samuel or Carlos Rogers

Ok hear me out I've always been a fan of Asante so right now he should be pretty cheap to get and he would upgrade our secondary. I know the draft is coming up and if player haven't sign yet they may sign after the draft but I would like to see Rogers or Samuels on our team.

This the same Asante Samuel who played for the Falcons the past couple of years? Absolutely no thanks...

You can find better, cheaper, and younger in the draft, sorry...

Both those corners are 32+ years old

Re: Asante Samuel or Carlos Rogers

Maybe but it looks like we are clearing out the older guys.

Re: Asante Samuel or Carlos Rogers

We just let go of a 32 y/o corner, and he was better than both of these guys, even with the knee injury. No thank you. We can draft a corner.

Greer isn't better then Asante Samuel.

Yes, in fact Greer was better than Asante' Samuel, and Carlos Rodgers in 2013.

Rule of thumb - If you open with "I have always been a fan of", he is too old.:bng:

Child please, Samuel is garbage now. On the rare occasion he is not dinged up with some hamstring or ankle thing (seriously this guy makes Tracy Porter look durable) he is getting caught flat-footed in coverage because he guesses wrong all the time. And when he guesses right, he still gives up plays because he's lost a step and can't close on the ball anymore. There's a reason the Falcons cut his sorry butt when he had a reasonable contract.

And Carlos Rogers is completely washed up.

Pass!! I'm quite sure we are trying to get younger and neither of those guys are spring chickens..

Re: Asante Samuel or Carlos Rogers

Asante Samuel had 5 picks the year before he got hurt. 3 before that, and 7 before that. Jabari Greer had 1, 3, and 1. All the while getting toasted his fair share of times by the likes of Roddy White and Steve Smith amongst others. I love Greer, but he was always hyped up to be more the what he really is. An above average #2 cb, who played #1 for us because we've sucked at the position for a decade.

And Carlos Rodgers needs to retire.

[QUOdon'theOak;585254]Yes, in fact Greer was better than Asante' Samuel, and Carlos Rodgers in 2013.

As far as last year goes, Samuel played 11 games. Greer went out after 10. Their stats are identical. So at best judging from 2013 they're even. I'd be more willing to be ton the proven ball hawk though. Either way, I dont Want Either Of the 3.

When stats are equal you go to 2013 record.:bng:
Greer 8-2
Samuel 4-7

I think I'll be happier if they draft a good cover corner with a little height.

When did wins and losses become the determining factor of which player is better? Especially for a position like corner. I could see if we were talking quarterback, but that's still a reach in my opinion.

We had the #2 rated pass defense last year, where was Atlanta again(21st)? No thanks on Asante

So much more played into that. That's not just a cut and clear, black and white decision maker. And I don't want Asante anyway. I saw somebody say Greer was better, and I disagree completely.

Doesn't matter; we aren't getting Rogers or Samuel either one. Just like every other team, we realize they're both washed up...

Greer is as well to me. Which is the point of my debate with the others.

Samuel > Greer

Not hey, let's sign Asante.

ChrisXVI 03-26-2014 09:01 PM

Asante Samuel or Carlos Rogers

I don't care about signing either guy... I'd just like to say that when we had no pass rush so many people were quick to bash our secondary... Now that we have a pass rush and logically our secondary improved; people don't want to sign free agent CB's. We're one Keenan Lewis injury away from having a mediocre secondary.

That's with every team, they are "back-ups" for a reason
