ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Gov. Kathleen Blanco said Thursday she is focusing on the essential parts of the state's relationship with the New Orleans Saints, not the extras the team stressed in a proposal Wednesday.
Blanco said negotiations between the state and the professional football team, which is seeking more state aid, will focus on two things:


The state's current, promised multiyear subsidies to the Saints.

The extent of future renovations to the Superdome to help the Saints make more money.
