Any Given Sunday is probably my favorite.

Oh, and I have always liked North Dallas Forty.

For me it's not just the ND thing.
What I don't get is, what is so special about a 28 year old getting in for 2-3 plays in a blowout game? So he dedicated his life to playing ND football and never gave up. Some people dedicate their lives to their families, or charity, or overcoming a disability. You know, worthwhile causes.

The capper is that the real life Rudy defrauded investors in his company to the tune of $400,000. Very inspirational.

sorry for the rant- just never got the allure of that film

Don't apologize for a Terrible movie...

watched as a concession regretting to this day that hour and fifteen minutes I'll never get back...

Wasn't asking, I love football, I've never seen a bad football movie.

That said, some movies are about football and some just have football in them.

Rudy wasn't a bad movie but like Radio it was a movie that had football as a setting with the story being about something else. So while IMDB and some critics classify those as football movies, I've seen both and neither told a story about the game of or playing football.

I loved Any given sunday which was probably as close to real as it gets and then the Rudy movie was good.

I really like Any given sunday (Cameron Diaz), The Program, Friday Night Lights and
Varsity Blues. Waterboy, The replacements and The longest yards are good for laughing.

Not a movie, but the Friday Night Lights television show was excellent. I actually prefer that over any football movie I've seen. That's saying a lot for me, because I am a big fan of Remember the Titans, The Replacements, Brian's Song, and The Last Boy Scout.

For me it is North Dallas 40 and the rest are somewhere in the distance in the rear view mirror. I love the part when the 'Tuz, playing a lineman for the Cowboys...a real football player...goes off on one of the coaches. "When we call it a game, you call it a business. When we call it a business, you call it a game!" I particularly like the part when, at the end of the rant, Nick Nolte says, "Far out!"

It is interesting to note that this movie was based on the real story of Pete Gent, played by Nick, and his issues with Coach Landry and the FO, and his friend Don Meredith, played by Mac Davis.

Great movie and one of the most realistic professional football movies I've ever seen.

Here's a sample, for those who haven't seen it...
