#LoomisMath

The Speed of Light

Under #LoomisMath, the salary cap is a maximum value which can be approached but never reached. This is because dollar values increase the closer to the salary cap a team gets, and it would take an infinite number of dollars to have enough of them to hit the cap.

It is helpful to break things into percentages. Mickey Loomis can utilize 99 percent of the salary cap and still have enough left over to sign an unimaginably high number of Jairus Byrds and Jimmy Grahams because, at extremely high cap usage, distant decimal values account for greater amounts of real money.

In other words, the Saints can add billions of 9s to the end of their 99 percent (expressed, say, as 99.9999999c of the total salary cap), with each decimal place representing more than enough real-world money to sign anyone they could desire.

In effect, the closer Mickey Loomis gets to the salary cap, the more money Mickey Loomis has available before he reaches the salary cap.

That’s #LoomisMath.

Loomis was just a numbers guy until Sean Payton came here I believe. They both grew as player evaluators and put together the current model that we run the franchise by. These two guys really play well off of each other. Kind of like Drew and Payton.

Our coach gets the best out of those around him.
