Goodwin Visiting

Re: Goodwin Visiting
Well there we go... A one year deal and let's see if he can challenge Lelito and/or a rookie for the starting spot. It would be good to go into the draft without that glaring need just in case.
|
Re: Goodwin Visiting
Sweet. He's on the downhill side of his career so he might come cheap and he might look pretty good between Grubbs and Evans. Definitely would give the Saints some flexibility in the draft.

Re: Goodwin Visiting
Center problem solved even if they keep both Goodwin can fill in at a couple of different positions on the line although not for long. Vet Minimum one year deal
|
Re: Goodwin Visiting
He's already on the website.
I guess it's a done deal? |

Re: Goodwin Visiting
I refuse to change
My slow swapping of Avatars through the Dome Patrol started at the start of last season and the difference of the defense has been immense. Im not willing to risk change |
Re: Goodwin Visiting
sign a vet
coach up lito draft another 2014 handled pretty well maybe, |

Re: Goodwin Visiting
I'm OK with Goodwin if he's very cheap. If he can beat out Lelito and/or draft pick for starting center, great. Otherwise he's good veteran depth. He can play guard too, IIRC.
|
Goodwin Visiting
If two rookies can't beat out a 35 year old 12 year vet for Center either we have a big problem or Goodwin found the fountain of youth.
Not knocking him but 1 Pro-Bowl appearance isn't normally indicative of a 12 year vet beating out the world. He doesn't get passed preseason, and I doubt he signs for what Loomis wants to pay. Who was saddened when we let him go? Now we celebrate his return.... He is a better option than DLP though. |
Re: Goodwin Visiting
I admit that I was sad to see him go back in the day, but I don't really want him back now.

Re: Goodwin Visiting
Martin sounds a lot like a younger Goodwin. It would be interesting to see our backs run the ball behind a big bruising center again.
|
Re: Goodwin Visiting
Screw that! Let's get the best! It'd be great to see Drew pass behind a good blocking center again!

Re: Goodwin Visiting
Marcus Martin Draft Profile
"Lacks desirable grit, toughness and finishing strength to maximize his talent and is stronger than he plays." Reading his weaknesses and the bottom line in his Draft profile reminds me of many other recent USC players. If he's available in the 3rd, maybe, but there has to be a higher value player available in the 2nd. |

Weakness: Plays a bit high at times, occasionally losing leverage or getting pushed back against wide-bodies. Does not play with a particularly wide base. Will lean forward too much when in space, losing his ability to sustain the block and allowing defenders to get him off balance. Sometimes misses his target in space. Lacks a great push in short-yardage situations. Needs quicker feet and lateral movement in pass protection to handle quick, penetrating three-technique tackles and adjust to blitzing linebackers inside. That doesn't sound very good but it's from the player draft profile for Alex Mack. So I never know what to think. |

So true! Players are over-analyzed to the point where these scouting reports are completely irrelevant. It's almost like scouting reports are an art form that don't actually have anything to do with the draft and the reality of playing football. |

Re: Goodwin Visiting
I think that we will pick a center ,but not before the 3rd rd. Mayock really likes Martin. Goodwin is a no brainer . We will sign him for not much.It make a lot of sense.IMHO GOOD MOVE.

Re: Goodwin Visiting
Bring him on board and let's get to running the damn ball.

Re: Goodwin Visiting
This is the guy I like. I believe he could do well between 2 pro-bowl gaurds. Strength and conditioning could turn this guy into a stud. I want a stud C more than any other position on the team, it will make the engine run smooth again. A WR wouldn't hurt my feelings either ,the kind with a good kick with hands.

Re: Goodwin Visiting
Well, apparently many 49ers' fans had some negative things to say about him and weren't sad at all to see him go.
