Joe Horn with his 94 balls had triple the production in his first year in NO than in his first 4 years at KC combined. Devery Henderson was a weapon in the Saints offense. He could not even get onto a squad last year. Meachem was useless in San Diego. Comes back and has a productive year last year. Morgan looked like a budding superstar in 2012. Even Moore and Colston were undrafted and 7th rd pick respectively. The Payton offense gets you the matchup. The QB then throws players open. How else can you have an offense that has posted 4 5000 yard passing seasons with a receiver corps where virtually no one breaks the 1000 yard mark? From what I understand the WR crop is deep this year in the draft. Just like Stills last year there's no reason that a 3rd, 4th, or 5th round receiver could not easily transition to a productive player in the Saints offense. SFIAH |

BTW: Joe Horn only played in 10 games with Brees/Payton, which was one of his worst seasons. But I agree, WR is only one of several positions worthy of our 1st pick. OLB, ILB, CB, WR, TE (Ebron), DT or even an A-prospect at DE wouldn't upset me at all. |

Re: Meachem signed
I'm sorry, I should have posted the entire reply. Here it is:
"Devery was signed by the Redskins last offseason. Before the start of training camp, Devery's dad passed away. Mike Shanahan gave Devery time off to attend his father's services & to grieve as well. Once he did make it to camp, he was a few pounds over weight & not in great shape. His head & heart wasn't into football either. Shanahan cut him before camp even ended in order to give Henderson the opportunity to catch on elsewhere but Devery is pretty content with how his career played out. He's set financially & takes pride that he never suffered any major injuries. The Saints as well as a few other teams reached out to him during last season but he wasn't interested." This was on the WhoDatZone.com about Devery Henderson. |
