Ricky Williams Type Trade
Okay folks, I'm bored and think we need something different to argue about. So, how about this? If you were to give up every draft choice (and yes you can include our first rounder for a current player) who would you trade them for? And NO, salary cap issues are not allowed just so's we actually do have to argue about something different!
While Matt Prater, the kicker from Denver would go a long way to curing my ulcer, I think I'd go for Alex Mack. |
Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
Are you saying you would give up all of our draft picks for a kicker?
|
Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
No way ever would I ever allow myself to trade all my draft picks for one player, no one is worth that.
I'd have to fire myself if I even thought about it... But if I had to, it would have to be for a LB such as Kuechly or Alonso... |
Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
Adrian Peterson or Megatron.
|
Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
Difficult choice the first names that come to mind would be Calvin Johnson(CJ and Graham in the redzone :-P),JJ Watt(lined up with Jordan and Hicks as NT)
But the best options with the Saints current roster would be Kiko Alonso,Luke Kuechly or NaVorro Bowman. I would not pull the trigger on every pick for anyone barring a 24 year old Manning,Brees or Brady with 20/20 hindsight |
Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
Rickey - bad. Julio - bad. Herschel Walker - bad. No player is worth it. Russell Wilson is all I can think of that would make me even consider it.

Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
I'd give up every draft pic to not have posts like these... lol

Payton is not Ditka Stupid.

I'm going to bet we trade up in the second to get "that other player" we wanted. Depending on what talent dropped that we have a good grade on.

Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
With FA and the salary cap, teams do not build through the draft like in years past. Look at our roster- only about 1/3 were actually drafted by the Saints. Teams get impatient, or players only sign 3-4 year rookie deals, and they are gone. The draft is still important, but rookies aren't going out and getting team tattoos anymore.
So, as for the OP, would I trade our entire draft for a 25 year old Calvin Johnson? Yes. Except he is 28. Watt? Keuchly? I would say yes again. I'll take proven talent over a risk any day, especially since FA seems to be more of Loomis' forte |
Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
I wouldn't trade all my picks for a player but I would trade my 1-4 for Megatron, Watt, Kuechly, Bowman, Alonso or Peterson and trust Loomis and Payton to do what they do just about every year and find some gems with our late round picks..

Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
Off topic, but since this seems like an anything goes off-season thread I'm gonna say it here:
Is anyone else confused by people talking about how great the bucs are gonna be this year? Granted it would be hard for them to get worse than last year, but they signed undersized pass rushers and a game managing qb. Granted they got a decent corner (I stress decent) but only after they cut the guy who they traded the D-ROY pick for...f*ck sakes. |
Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
5 failcon picks to move up 5 spots for clowney. That will help Saints more than the Saints going all Ricky Williams again.

I haven't heard a single person say that the Bucs are gonna be good this year, let alone great. Most people seem to agree that Lovie Smith doesn't know jack about offense and that Josh McCown looking good last season was strictly a result of Trestman's coaching. I've heard more about how the Failclowns have improved by signing run-stopping D-Linemen and a guard who was benched last season despite how they needed pass-rushers and offensive tackles. |

I guess that's why I hadn't heard any love for the Bucs... I don't watch the NFL Network and that just proves why. |
Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade

Oh don't get me wrong, the Bucs have some excellent players and I would actually pick them to be the 2nd best team in the division this season... Behind us of course. I just don't see the offense being that good and the Lovie Smith/Leslie Frazier Cover 2 defense they'll be running is so easy to carve up, especially for Drew when he has a guy like Jimmy Graham being covered by linebackers. |

Yesterday I said AJ Green but now I'd also like to add Joe Thomas. That's not a knock on Terron Armstead who I'm very excited to watch how he develops this season, but come on... Joe Thomas is a stud. I feel sorry for the poor bastard being stuck with the Browns.

Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
I dont feel sorry for him at all
He agreed to a 7 year $80ml+ deal |
Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
If this was maybe 2 years from Now, The only player I'd even think of doing this for is Andrew Luck. Keeps us in the mix for 10 years or so, and provided we hit with Undrafted FA's I don't think we'd miss those picks too much.

I know, but it just sucks to see such a badass wasting away on a terrible team. I remember last season he even started complaining publicly about how it's hard to come to work when you know you're gonna lose. Of course he's rich as f*** and shouldn't complain but he still has a competitive spirit and he knows he'll never go far with that team. |
Re: Ricky Williams Type Trade
I wouldn't give up all my picks for Johnson or Peterson. Both are on the down side of their prime. It would set us back years. I wouldn't trade all my picks for any one player.
