Steve Young compares Johnny Manziel to Drew Brees
Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young compares Johnny Manziel to Drew Brees.
“He’s the guy that seems to really thrive in chaos,” Young said in an interview with Yahoo Sports, via Black Sports Online. “That’s an innate quality that I don’t see very often. I think Johnny is very improvisational. I think that that’s a fun part of the game. The truth is that in the NFL, the job is to deliver the ball from the pocket. That’s the job. So he’s going to have to transition that. “… That’ll be the challenge for Johnny — if he’s willing to do the boring work behind the scenes day in and day out, over years, he can be Drew Brees. He can be guys that have moved around in their careers – Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers could scramble around for 100 yards if he wanted to, but he’s learned the game. That’s what Johnny is going to have to do.” I’m sorry, but I don’t see any similarities between Manziel and Brees. Steve Young compares Johnny Manziel to Drew Brees |

Sigh. Is it draft day yet?

Re: Steve Young compares Johnny Manziel to Drew Brees
I don't ever want to hear the name Johnny Manziel again. I thought RG3 was over-exposed but damn man... I'm sick of this kid already.

Manziel is really good. I didn't want to agree, but he really is. He's prone to interceptions to me, because he's a gun slinger like Favre. He reminds me of a fast Brett Favre. Although Brees is kind of prone to interceptions too. Manziel can be a really great NFL QB.
And I've said it before, I'll say it again, Bridgewater is the best of this class. If he fall to the 2nd like Kiper thinks, I'd be ecstatic if we took him at 27. |
Re: Steve Young compares Johnny Manziel to Drew Brees
Steve Young is a silly silly man.

To me it seems they have completely different styles. Now if he had said, with hard work, Manziel could be Farve or Tarkington or himself or any number of quarterbacks that make things happen by scrambling out of the pocket, I could see it. But Drew is almost a cliche' pocket passer. It sounds like silly Steve just needed to say something. |

He's just setting himself up for a concussion lawsuit. :D

More like Jeff George in Tony Romo's body.

Re: Steve Young compares Johnny Manziel to Drew Brees
Steve Young's head still hurts from Frank Warren and Rickey Jackson.

Re: Steve Young compares Johnny Manziel to Drew Brees
I too am getting tired of hearing his name. He is clearly wanting the money. I called it early last season he will declare. Why would someone want to declare after only two years in college? Did he not enjoy his college experience?

Re: Steve Young compares Johnny Manziel to Drew Brees
Johnny football showed last year that he had no where near the discipline, devotion, and preparation Brees does when he got booted out of the Manning camp.

Re: Steve Young compares Johnny Manziel to Drew Brees
Can't compare anyone to Drew Brees
San Diego showed they had no trust in him when they drafted phillip rivers - drew kept him on the bench Drew then got injured and was told he'd only have a 25% chance he'd ever play football again Not only did he come back, he was miles ahead of where he was in San Diego and showed them they made a mistake when we won the SB Manziel might be a good QB when he gets to the pros, but there is only one Drew Brees |

Goooo-fy. I wouldn't want Bridgewater if he was available in the third round. The Saints have holes to fill. QB ain't one of them. |
Re: Steve Young compares Johnny Manziel to Drew Brees
The mock draft discussions are full of comparisons between NFL players and draft prospects... Why does everyone get their panties in a knot just because our QB becomes one of the comparisons?

Re: Steve Young compares Johnny Manziel to Drew Brees
They both lit it up in college. John Fourcade was great on a broken play but u cant survive in the NFL that way. Drop back, deliver the football. A&M needed Johnny to score TDs on every possession and he often did. Is he Russel Wilson or Tim Tebow? We'll see.
