The Dude 05-09-2014 11:35 PM

Re: Day Three: Wish list

Definitely think we need to start focusing on oline and LB in that order.

SaintLeonard 05-09-2014 11:36 PM

Re: Day Three: Wish list

Just throwing out some names here:

Jordan Tripp, OLB, Montana
Jordan Zumwalt, OLB, UCLA
Trevor Reilly, OLB, Utah
Christian Jones, ILB, Florida St
Devin Street, WR, Pitt
L'Damian Washington, WR, Missouri
Pierre Desir, CB, Lindenwood
Aaron Lynch, DE, South Florida
Marcus Roberson, CB, Florida
Louchiez Purifoy, CB, Florida
Jaylen Watkins, CB, Florida
David Yankey, OG, Stanford
Dakota Dozier, OG, Furman
Quincey Enunwa, WR, Nebraska
Larry Webster, DE, Bloomsburg

Barry from MS 05-09-2014 11:39 PM

Re: Day Three: Wish list

Andrew Jackson / ILB (not the president) // 5th or 6th rounder
Chris Smith / DE - too small for 3-4 DE...OLB in 3-4 // 5th or 6th rounder
Murray / QB - one of the 4th rounders (LSU QB Mett-something won't be there when we pick)
Yankey / OL - one of the 4th rounders // need OL (who the crap we got backing up our Tackles and Guards? Harris? That's it? Yankey played both)

Wouldn't be opposed to another BPA WR or another LB...WR Norwood in 4th? Wouldn't hate that...

Re: Day Three: Wish list

Adrian Hubbard OLB Alabama 6'6 252

STRENGTHS Exceptional length and overall size for a rush linebacker. Good hand strength to leverage the edge. Flashes pass-rush ability -- nice bend and balance. Flattens down the line and is athletic enough to string out plays to the sideline. Is strong enough to set the edge, shed and defend the run. Good take-on strength and anchor.

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif OT McGill 6'5 321

STRENGTHS Looks the part with outstanding upper-body strength and massive quads. Stout anchor in pass protection. Violent shock in his punch. Plays with a nasty temperament and seeks to bury defenders into the ground. Aggressive run blocker -- runs his feet on contact and plays beyond the whistle. Is physically and mentally tough and will play through pain (fought through a torn left labrum injury as a senior and never took himself out of a game or missed time). Highly intelligent (in medical program) and football smart.

I would like to see the twin towers of Rufus Johnson and Hubbard at OLB

Tardif is a smart guy (pre-med), good blocker with a mean streak...move him to center.

I'd like either of these guys but I don't think a 6'5" Center is a good option for a QB that already throws on his tip-toes quite often.

Re: Day Three: Wish list

I think de'anthony Thomas would be an interesting dude to take now that we're in the 4th. I didn't think he would drop near this far. He's undersized but most teams are employing the running back by committee approach and every committee needs a specialty player like Thomas. I think he's a low risk-high reward at this point in the draft.

I wouldn't mind seeing them go after any those Florida corners who were so highly touted during the season, but for whatever reason have fallen. There must have been some reason why people were high on them, so it couldn't hurt to try. I'd like to upgrade the O-line, but I'm not crazy about any of the prospects left there. But I'm sure Payton and Loomis are looking at some guy from Saskatchewan university technical institute of technological technicity and tactical warfare. He's an under the radar guy, but he'll run you over.

Pierre Desir
Christian Jones
Adrian Hubbard
I like the Baptiste pick but he's not that fast, I'd like to see us hedge our bet there with Desire I think we could still get Jones in the 5th along with Stork.

Since we now have a Cook, "Cook Black Mamba" might be a very deadly dish to serve opposing defenses. Put those two on the field at the same time? It would be like two cockroaches on crack for the defense to catch. yeah get them tall DB and turn these two loose lmao. watch those jock straps flying all over the field as defenders get faked out of them.

The kid is an excellent WR also. the biggest plus is he is the top return man in the country, watching him returning kicks and punts is a thing of beauty. he has it done to an art at the college level. at first i said pass dude is so small but as i watched more and more of the guy the more i like him.

all he needs is a well almost nothing

then the stop and go acceleration

Re: Day Three: Wish list

Another SS with CB speed that hits like a ton of bricks and that is why he is a SS and not a FS. Not like the skill set aint there. hands are above average

Ahmad Dixon Baylor 600 212 4.38
shuttle 4.39
cones 7.28

pro day for the stars. x basketball player turned safety. 32 vert. needs coaching up on tackling and recognition but if the football IQ is there he might be worth a shoot.

general overall take on the kid
Excellent size/speed athlete with the fluidity and natural speed to cover the entire field, making plays behind the line of scrimmage and in the deep half of the field. Works hard to shed blocks to make open-field stops and is a physical tackler. He is confident in coverage to jump routes and aggressively go after the ball

another DB with a high ceiling instant impact on special teams

Re: Day Three: Wish list

I know we don't need another corner but those Florida corners are very talented. I still like Dozier as well.

Re: Day Three: Wish list

We wont take another DB in the draft, we have too many already.

Need to address C and OLB.

Re: Day Three: Wish list

Never have enough good DB, never. especially ones that can play Safety and can drop in an play some CB.
plus players like this do wonders for special teams. snot knockers

Re: Day Three: Wish list

Would like to see them pick a center, but honestly, I think they have something up their sleeve there. Things have been awfully quiet on the Jonathan Goodwin front lately. Not just with him visiting the Saints, but with him apparently visiting NOBODY ELSE that I can see. It's almost like I think they met, and Payton and Loomis winked at Goodwin, put their hand up to their face with thumb and pinkie, and mouthed "I'm a call you" to his agent, and everybody agreed to sit tight. Would not be surprised if there was a handshake or unspoken deal in place, to sign Goodwin Sunday or Monday if a particular center that they like, doesn't fall right into their lap in the draft. If I'm Goodwin, at this stage in his career, for that opportunity to come home to the Saints, I'd certainly agree to kick back on the couch and wait a few days.

Agreed...
Lewis
Bailey
Jean-Baptiste
White
Robinson
Sweeting
Brooks (the CFL stud)
Wade
Frederick
Davis

If we can't field a baddass group of CB's from that list, someone should be fired.

You can never have too many DB's

As long as we don't take another bust from Alabama. I don't care who we take really but your putting a lot of faith in a couple of CFLer's. There is a reason they were in Canada

Re: Day Three: Wish list

If we can get Christian Jones, Russell Bodine and then Walt Aikens I think we will be set. Baptiste and Aikens can replace Patrick Robinson.

I really hope Victor Butler stays healthy. We could use another OLB.

I'm not putting faith in a couple CFL players. I merely listed one in a large group.

Besides Dozier and the two Florida CB's, Carl Bradford, Daniel McCullers, and Aaron Murray appeal to me the most.

Re: Day Three: Wish list

Ok once again we've avoided LSU players like the plague. I think Baptiste is probably a career backup and Jarvis Landry is a day one starter for many years. That being said I'd like to see us draft JC Copeland. He was said to be the number one fullback in the nation and he's like having an OG in the backfield. Who Dat!
