Sunseri highlights (Game tape vs A&M)

This is game tape of Sunseri vs Texas A&M. It shows the good and the bad which is a nice over view of this guy. He shows he can lay the wood but also be out of position at times. No one is perfect, but I think Rob can groom him into a solid player for us. Share your thoughts on the vid.

I hate when people say "out of position" like they know what position he was supposed to be in.

None of you know.

I already knew the kid can ball. I have to say though I was a little disappointed with this pick, not because I don't think he can play, but because the strongest position on this team is the safety position IMO.

I played Safety homeboy, so let me rephrase. He is in his correct position but not instinctive in some plays. Better?

I don't know; looked pretty "instinctive" with that pick 6... Besides no less instinctive than Harper was...

Yeah Mitch I know what your saying. Damn, people get so critical over stupid ****. Im just trying to strike up convo on our new signed players. It's usually the people that have never played a lick of football in their life that criticize placement of words being used. Open forum so blast on.

i like the pick and i think people will be surprised he is more athletic than he is given credit for, i just wish he tackled with more force. solid tackler but not a snot bubble type of tackler that leaves players rolling on the turf gasping for air asking mommy to wipe there butt. cerebral types are excellent but not as much fun or territoral

Special teams player most likely.

Danno being Danno.

I just get worried when he unleashes his bolts of doom at the new posters cos it scares them off :)

What I see is a player who is not very athletic, but he compensates for his lack of athletic ability by having freakishly good instincts and having a high football IQ.

I don't think Sunseri is a future starter or anything, but he can provide valuable depth and be a beast on special teams. Which, I mean, I think that is all you can realistically ask for out of a 5th round pick. Not a bad pick at all. Glad to have Sunseri as a member of the Saints.

while watching the draft, I heard an analyst say that Ryan's defense is complicated and he likes to have a player to make sure players are lined up correctly. He compared the pick to Jim Leonard when Ryan was in Buffalo. In a couple years he could be our safety that plays in the box and uses his head to make some smart football plays. He looks like he will be a consummate professional, and coming from Alabama (even though LSU fans don't want to admit it) you know he's been coached well and he always leaves it all on the field.

Alabama, LSU, THE Ohio State, Notre Dame, Hofstra, Mudd Water St etc .. who cares where they come from. If these guys add value and can help the Who Dat nation hoist another title, I'm all for it.

Re: Sunseri highlights (Game tape vs A&M)

I ain't making an assessment based on one game out of a whole college career. We have no idea what Bama's defensive scheme was, and we didn't get to see much for run support or much for coverage abilities in there, either. Too small of a sample size.

But he looks fast enough on the film, and he probably needs to strengthen up a bit more based on what I saw for his tackling in that game. Don't think he'll be a sure-fire starter at safety for a couple of more years if even then, but there's potential for special teams for him today moving forward. Gunner maybe?
