Drew Brees thinks Johnny Manziel could struggle in NFL
 

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees sees his former teammate Reggie Bush as a prime example of just how hard it is for a much-hyped rookie to transition to the NFL.

He's using that example as a comparision to Cleveland Browns rookie QB Johnny Manziel.

"It's kind of hard for a player in that situation because you're coming off of that success from college and all of the sudden you're thrown into the NFL in the spotlight," Brees said during an appearance on the NFL Network's "NFL Total Access." "We've certainly seen guys get thrown into the fire and (they're) not quite ready..."

"Listen, it takes a mentally tough person to kind of work through those struggles because you're going to have struggles. Everybody does at some point."

"He seems like an ultra-confident person, one who is kind of ready for that type of spotlight, that type of attention," Brees said of Manziel. "It's kind of been that way for the last two years with him. It's not anything he's not used to. I think the big thing is, hey, if you have your struggles like everybody does, how are you able to handle that?"

Has anyone actually watched the video of the interview? Brees says absolutely nothing about Manziel struggling.

He doesn't compare Reggie Bush' transition from college to the NFL at all, he says this scenario REMINDS him of the reggie bush draft because of all the draft hype he had with when we selected him, so much media coverage and buzz because of their success. He mentions absolutely nothing about reggie bush or manziel struggling to transition to the pros

Then he says, EVERY player struggles, its how you respond to those struggles that define you, it takes a strong work ethic to rebound from bad games and grow as a player.

The title of this thread, as often seems to be the case, is misleading. He's just saying everybody struggles at times, which is obvious, but at the same time he is saying he thinks Manziel is a confident guy. He's actually being complimentary which kind of irks my nerves. Manziel is a pampered tool. Any person who see's his ego as being "confidence" and that it will translate into success should remember Ryan Leaf. He's got a lot to prove, far beyond just being an arrogant little brat. Micheal Vick was a better college player than Manziel, and he has been average at best.
