Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
Thomas said he was close enough to leaving the Saints that "I was talking to other teams."
Scary to hear! Thomas thought last season Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson did enough late in the season to make him expendable. "They showed what they could do in the playoffs against Seattle," Thomas said. "They showed that these guys can be here and take control and lead this team in the right direction. When it came down to it, I'm still with them, I'm happy with that." Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension | NOLA.com |

He's definitely up against that 30 year wall.
I think he can still be quite effective if he's not over-used. About 10 touches per game should be his limit. |
Re: Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
When he's healthy, he's our scrappiest and most dangerous running back.

Not me. He produces. And he doesn't do the "F word".....

Re: Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
I understand that the FO was shopping PT and couldn't move him. After PT signed a two year deal they traded Mighty Mouse(I'm going to miss him) for a 5th round pick. We had an over abundance of talent at the running back position...........we still do and are going to cut a running back or two before we get down to the final 53.

Re: Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
Oh I get it now.
BTW, Ingram has 2 F' words in 3 seasons. PT has 6 F' words in 7 seasons. None of our backs appear to be F' word prone. |
Re: Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
it was PT or Darrin. one had to go unfortunately and the remaining one had to take a pay cut. glad it was pT. best blocking back on this team

Re: Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
He probably sent a Thank You Love Note to Mark Ingram.

Re: Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
Glad he got that ext. With that being said I see him as more of a 3rd down back. With the other 2 running great at the end of the season I see them carrying the load early and often.

Re: Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
PT is probably gonna get around 10-12 touches a game and will be in the game in those critical drives. dude is clutch and doesnt make mistakes.

Re: Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
I hope they don't use the screen pass with Pierre as much, everyone has that figured out now.
Ready for the season to get going. |

Then along came Jimmy Graham and Darren Sproles. Now, as you said, teams are cheating up because we don't have as many deep threats and also because we had Nicks, Goodwin and Evans at the top of their game. Then along comes Brandin Cooks and Kenny Stills. :p Teams will find out pretty fast that cheating up isn't gonna work anymore. The perpetual chess match. |

Insurance policy if Robinson and Ingram don't step up.

Re: Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
I love me some PT and he is one of my favorite Saints, but he survived the offseason turmoil and was restructured at something of a pay cut. I'm glad he's here but at the same time, I still would not be surprised at all, to open my newspaper one morning in August and read that he is gone, traded to some team or other, if it's for a player we need or a pick in next year's draft to reload with. It might still happen. The pay cut actually makes him more attractive to a trading partner, the same way it makes him attractive to stay with the Saints. This talk of "I thought I'd played my final game in a Saints uniform" well in this league you NEVER know for sure about anything.

Re: Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
All PT has ever done is prove people wrong
PT kept rashard mendenhall on the bench in college PT then went undrafted, still beat 3rd round pick antonio pittman for a roster spot Was more reliable, more productive and therefore more involved in our offense than a #2 pick in the draft He hasn't been the 30 carry a game sort of guy so the age barrier won't hit him like it does others, PT is too good to be just a third down back, i still think carries will be split evenly, kind of like our 2011 running game |
Re: Pierre Thomas thought he played his final game with New Orleans Saints before two-year extension
