Knocks on Brees continue

So its been said that Seattle and SF came up with a defense that could stop him and that Brees can shed a Tampa 2 defense but struggles against any other defense? I need to prove some people wrong so can someone show clips of Brees burning other defensive schemes.

Its one thing I hate about variety boards os how hated we are.

Didn't seattle and SF both lose the last time they came to play Brees in the Dome? It's harder to win on the road than at home. That's it so try to relax and just enjoy having a great team.

The last time the Saints played the 49ers and the Seahawks, Drew threw for over 300 yards and had a 86 qbr in both games.

Not bad for struggling.

We know the truth... It's all that matters.

In 2014 Brees will be on fire... again. You know they quake in their boots at the thought of playing the Saints... especially in the Dome. If not, they are just plain stupid and hardly worth your time or worry.

The truth is we all look forward to playing those kind of dog fights. Bring'em on. :bng:

if the OL returns to form, LT continues to develop, center holds his ground and drew gets more comfortable with young wr we will be ok.

my worry is the RB in the passing game right now. PT goes down look for teams to blitz from all over the place.

Blocking TE would be sweet. i hope Drew uses Watson more than he did last year. It looks like Watson has his head in the game here. if that the case he was under utilized.

i am feeling better going into this year than last so every one in the NFL better be ready. this offense should be cranked up again. road losses will not be a topic for discussion.

everything rides on Drew.

Atleast 3 of our road losses were our inability to convert a 3rd down in critical situations

NE game - D forces turnover, offense goes 3 and out, patriots go on an 80 yard drive and win

Panthers game - can't convert 3rd down, panthers win with 6 seconds remaining

Jets loss - despite horrible play, we were in the game until that terrible TE reverse play on 3rd down to josh hill

We win that panthers game and we have the number 1 seed and probably the best chance of any team to make the superbowl

I hope our running game can come out on form

this was the game that revealed a lot to me about Drew's and his relationship with the young WR. Pats took out Drew favorite receivers and evened the playing field. Brady vs Drew and the confidence in young WR.

whether it was players not seeing the same thing as Drew or just simple lack of faith, this was the main reason we lost that game.

Drew and WR must get on the same page because we have more than a few newbies this year.

in the passing game this is my concern. can they gel? i think they can. even if Drew needs to force the issue more this year.

I cant remember exactly what it was but a few horrible calls had a lot to do with that loss also.

My knock is that he forces it way too much to Jimmy. Knowing Jimmy won't fight for it or alligator arm a catch.

Hopefully he won't have to do that as much with cooks in the lineup and a better running game to take some pressure off him

Re: Knocks on Brees continue

Brees deserves some of the knocks he gets. His record outside the Dome, on the road against teams with winning records, is his Achilles heel that keeps him always behind Brady, Rodgers, etc. in all comparisons. If he can improve that, the conversation will change. If Brees had road numbers like Rodgers or like Brady and the Patriots, they would be basically neck in neck.

The difference between them all is the dip between Brees' stellar home game performances and his struggles and frequent mediocre performances in tough games on the road; Brady Rodgers and Manning and their corresponding teams may not win every road game they play, as I'm sure someone will point out, but they are generally more consistent across the board between home and away. That's the key.

We tried to run the ball on our final drives. Only against Atlanta we were successful and milked the clock.. But they sucked on D. Biggest WTF moment was against Carolina and 3 consecutive run plays (exact same plays). No trust. I hope that changes in 2014.

Re: Knocks on Brees continue

Lately we have been too predictable with our different packages and Drew Brees depending too much on Jimmy Graham. When JG was out of the game it was a run. When Ingram was in, it was a run up the middle. When P. Thomas was in, it was a screen. We lacked a speedy playmaker wide receiver. Our offense flowed when Drew Brees has 12 completions to 8 different receivers which also opens up the run. Hopefully the sains can get back to what made them unpredictable and explosive and knowing Sean Payton and Drew Brees this will happen again this year . . ..

Shut them all up Brees. This is the year to do it.

That is the one thing about Brees that bothers me. I try to focus on our team as a whole being better but when Brees does stuff like that he not only makes his qb ranking look bad he becomes the source for people not giving our team as a whole respect. Even after last year, our defense still is disrespected. We're one of those teams who has to deal with sh*t in the offseason and prove our point in the regular season. I would just like people to respect us more and it has to start with Brees cutting down on the ints.

It's just DUMB talk. We have Drew Brees, and you wish you did.

That and there was some hometown cooking from the refs - that hold on Galette on the Pats touchdown pass at the end of the game is posted in my lobby of my office...

like their tackle mauling our rushing defender right in front of Brady and the refs as the ball goes just over Corey Whites finger tips for the winning touchdown

Thats right, but it was jabari greer who got beat by a rookie WR for the winning TD, not corey white

Yep. He was caught looking into the backfeild while he let the rookie get away from him.

my bad

forgot about Jabari after that cruel injury, man was he hustling on that play against SF

White had so many "almost got there" blown coverage moments last year I guess I threw that one in for him too

Haha don't worry buddy, jabari was having kind of a back and forth season, he would make some good plays but he seemed to be looking in the backfield more often than previous years

sometimes it payed off, sometimes it didn't

It's simple.....Brees does better when we have a running game. He also does better when he spreads the ball around to different receivers.

Edit: Sean Payton needs to get back to smash mouth football and avoid calling redundant plays.:dunce:

I believe that's exactly what your going to see this year, more emphasis on the run game. When you run the ball it wears down defenses and opens up the passing game. This is just my opinion but the offensive line needs to get more physical and start pushing defenses around like in the SB year.
