Butler still working on his fastball

METAIRIE, La. -- New Orleans Saints linebacker Victor Butler is excited to be back out on the practice field this summer after missing all of last season with a torn ACL.
But he's also fighting through the rust -- and a little frustration -- that comes with being gone so long. "I'm all right. It's fun to be back out there, no doubt. But it will take a little while to get back in the swing of things," Butler said last week. "Slowly but surely, I'm coming back. There's just a way everybody's used to doing certain things. You're still doing everything, it's just not what you're used to. "It's like throwing your fastball, but instead of your 102 mile-per-hour fastball, it's your 95 mile-per-hour fastball. It's still fast, but not quite what you're used to." Continue reading: Victor Butler still working on his fastball - ESPN |

Re: Butler still working on his fastball
If this dude turns out to be even a 6-7 sack guy then our defense is going to be extremely scary.

Re: Butler still working on his fastball
I hate that he missed last season. Now he's basically on a one year contract and if he does well we're either going to spend too much or let him walk. We will have a few of our contracts running out and will need to prioritize our players.

Versatility on 3 downs. That's why Rob's defense this year could eclipse last year.

Re: Butler still working on his fastball
Victor Butler is excited. So are we.

Re: Butler still working on his fastball
Former special teamer coming off an ACL. The Saints can't fill every hole every year, but there's nothing impressive about the LB corps. Again. So, as was said above, if he contributes something, it will be a bonus.

Re: Butler still working on his fastball
I view Butler more as a curveball and Gallette the fastball.
