The only reason I see are simply odds.

We're among the top 3 or 4 teams in the NFC, and the top 5 or 6 in the entire NFL.

That means we have about a 1 in 6 chance to win it all, which is less than 20%

We certainly have as good a chance as any other team.

Good reasoning. But, of these six team how many have both the offense and defense to pull it off?

We have one of the best combos of offense and defense in the league, the issue we really need to address is our play on the road

For years now our points per game drops dramatically when we play outside of new orleans, we may have slightly answered some of those questions with a win vs philly in the playoffs, but brees still threw two picks and we squandered a 17 point lead and won by a FG.

Our play on the road needs to improve especially with how our schedule shapes up.

After Lewis knocked himself out of the game; they started moving the ball rather well on White and Sweeting. Before that they didn't have much success and only had 80 yards on 22 carries the whole game;

Very true, as soon as keenan went down Corey white got beat on the very next play.

When I talk about road games I tend to mean the offense more than the defense to be honest, Drew's QB rating drops significantly, he throws more picks on the road and our points per game drops by about 10 points.

Perfect examples of what I mean - NE patriots game, away game @carolina and NY jets game, all those games our offense failed at crucial moments.

We did just enough in philly to make up for keenan lewis knocking himself out, but it was real touch and go. If our offense can be as successful on the road as they are in the dome then that will take us a long way

FWIW, since 2009, the Saints have the best regular season road record in the NFL; 24-13

We've played 40 road games, your numbers only add up to 37

Maybe the Georgia Dome doesn't count as a road trip. ?

Those numbers are somewhat inflated by 2009 and 2010's road W/L record. Since 2011 it's been in steady decline. The 3-5 road record last year kept us from having a first round bye.
