Saints Sign a LB - Cut CB A.J.Davis
 

This is as exciting as news gets this time of year.

The New Orleans Saints have signed linebacker Todd Davis and waived injured cornerback A.J. Davis, the team announced Monday.

Todd Davis, an undrafted free agent in 2013, played at Sacramento State from 2010-13. He played in 45 games with 351 career tackles, 9.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and six PBUs.

I liked AJ Davis but it didn't seem like he would get a real chance to compete for a job. Somebody will pick him up.

Todd Davis sounds a lot like the ILB's we already have in Lofton, Hawthorne, Humber. Instinctive, tough and physical. We are definitely going for toughness in the front 7.

There's nothing wrong with Lofton and Hawthorne. You don't have a top 4 defense with bad linebackers.

He played with two numbers in college, he made plays in both numbers..... Gonna have to see him flash if he is gonna make the squad.

This is a guy sitting on the couch while all the NFL training camp rosters are 99.9% set.

We didn't sign this guy to replace Lofton or Hawthorne or Humber.

He'll be lucky if he's still on the team when camp starts. Camp body with a slim to none chance of making the team on special teams.

Yeah, the only thing I can figure is they were looking for the best special teamer available. We have so many 4-3 type linebackers already. IMO, why not bring in a vet safety?

We have 8 safeties on the roster right now, with 3 vets (4 if you include Ball's CFL experience).

Byrd will be ready for the beginning of camp so I think we're good there for now.

Now A.J. Davis has been moved to IR... again. Benson pays this guy money so he can he can eat chips all day. He must have a ton of upside if we keep doing this

Reddick or Fortt may be ready to step up in playing time. They're cheaper than Hawthorne. Then, someone is needed on special teams. He has a shot to prove himself. All a man can ask for.

sounds like an inside job, a favor for the guy whos coach or dad knows someone on the inside to get this man out off the weight room and in an nfl uni. may only be through training camp but may supprize....

now how does my opinion sound.

Well, Hawthorne played better last year but started fading at the end of the season and during the playoffs. He's close but just not quite fast enough for what we're looking for I believe. I really like Humber he brings the bricks when he hits you and we need to make some statements with our hitting.
