Are we perfect on paper, or can we still improve

The Saints Have the Best Roster in the NFL

Have we done enough.... We have done enough to be noticed, We will be in the mix..... Have we done enough to win it all.

Who cares about paper. I want to come out of training camp healthy.

I want to come out of pre season with the best players.

I want to beat Atlanta, win the division and beat Seattle or San Fran or whomever challenges us for the Lombardi.

Paper means nada to me.

paper reminds me of philly a few years back, best lineup ever to do nothing. that's what paper gives you.

Re: Are we perfect on paper, or can we still improve

Yes, we are nearly perfect on paper, or better phrased - As loaded with talent as any team in the league.

The problem is other factors weigh heavily on a teams chances and have nothing to do with talent.

Blown calls
Key Injuries
Excessive Injuries
Down Years by usually productive players
Over-confidence
Lapses in focus and motivation
The ball bouncing left instead of right
Weather

Too many variables in the equation to predict the final result.

I'm 100% certain that we have enough talent and good coaching that we'll most likely be a very very good team.

no we have not. never be happy with what you got. there is always some way to get better.
- paper is to whip ones self
- 1 super bowl was nice but we have taken a step backwards and have yet to return.
- question answered.

except and expect nothing but the best for the next few years because Drew aint going to be around forever. at that point in time then we can look at pieces paper.

We're going to have a very talented roster. But even as good as things look (and believe me, they do look really good).....we gotta remember that as fans, we have a habit of reading too many offseason articles and letting them delude us into a false sense of reality. Example: in 2007 people thought Jason David was going to be "the final piece", and the expectations for the Saints by most fans was a Super Bowl. Instead we got an 0-4 start.

Re: Are we perfect on paper, or can we still improve

We are very far from perfect. We do not have a stud tailback. We do not have an overpowering run blocking line. Our linebackers are average at best. Last year our return game was poor. That being said this is by far the best Saints roster I've ever seen. My prediction Cooks-1300 yds 96 catches 10 TD. Before u say I'm crazy remember Reggie Bush caught 90 balls as a rookie from the TB position. And Cooks is just as fast but a far better route runner than Reggie.

We can always improve. When you are green you are growing and when you are ripe you are rotten.

I really like our chances this year to do it all

a few concerns

suspect offensive line (new center, hopefully emerging tackle)
protect Drew is key

receivers haven't learned how to get off the line without being mugged by the elite (no one calls PI) defenses

Graham needs to catch in traffic

Will Cooks replace Sprouls?

Running game? end of year looked encouraging

poor play calling to run out the clock at end of games
can't do that anymore

handling noise and ref home cooking on the road

Vicarro needs to stop leading with his head

hopefully we dodge the injury bug

Atlanta was practically guaranteeing a Super Bowl going into last year

then again we have Sean Payton

Yep. I've been visiting the sites for several different teams and it's easy to see the press is hyping up every team. As an example, ESPN just did regular season records and predicted the NFL would be 32 games over .500.

NFL Nation: How will your team finish? - NFL Nation Blog - ESPN

Since that's mathematically impossible, it's apparent the writers at ESPN would rather tell their readers something they'd like to hear rather than the cold, hard truth that some teams are going to blow next year.

Also, there are question marks at kicker. And yet, you only see that mentioned a handful of times. Meaning people either really trust Shayne Graham, or they are confident that Derek Dimke is the answer.

Stole my thunder. .. kicker is a huge concern... Kickalicious anyone?

Yea kicker is a big one that I think we tend to forget. Kickers only get mentioned or thought about when they miss kicks. I liked Graham but he just doesn't have the distance anymore. I hope we work out several.

If Leonard Fournette was donning black and gold instead of purple and gold this year I'd bet the house we'd win the bowl. Wait I might just do that anyway. Who Dat!
