Saints sign linebacker Melton

The Saints have placed veteran linebacker Derrick Rodgers on the injured reserve list with a ruptured disc in his lower back. And, taking his place on the roster is linebacker Terrance Melton.


Melton, at 6-1, 235-pounds, is a second-year player from Rice. He played on special teams in the Atlanta Falcons' opener against San Francisco. He was released and re-signed to the Falcons' practice squad, where he spent the next ten games.
