Graham into Galvatron ? Graham 2.0 !
Now that this contract dispute is all over with and both he and the Saints are coming away with a Beneficial deal , it's time to get back to business. Here's what we know.
Yes Jimmy Graham is the ultimate receiving threat Yes Jimmy Graham is the Best TE of All Time Yes Jimmy Graham Deserves his Pay. These things are all a testament to his Unnatural abilities and talents , but if anything were to really set this guy apart from anything the NFL let alone sports has ever seen , what would it be ? What would make this guy the Lebron James of Football ? It's all in his Mind. He's a kind , passionate , thankful person who comes from under the bottom of the barrel. And sometimes humility although a great quality to have keeps you from that extra Gear. That Michael Jordan gene , That's blood in the water shark sense , you know the Aggression. Not saying he lacks it , but physical corners seem to bring out his feminine side a bit. A new contract a new commitment to the running game a new season perhaps we"ll also be in for a new , pissed off , Reformed , Revamped Jimmy Graham , all hail Galvatron |
Re: Graham into Galvatron ? Graham 2.0 !
Best TE of all time? Ehh i'm not so sure about that. Aren't TEs supposed to do that blocking thing?
|
Re: Graham into Galvatron ? Graham 2.0 !
Gonzalez and Sharp weren't good blockers either, and most consider them the greatest of all time.

Re: Graham into Galvatron ? Graham 2.0 !
Jimmy's current stats:
36 games started 301 rec 3863 yds 41 td For JG to be considered "best of all time", he'll need at least one ring, possibly a Superbowl MVP. He'll also need to break Gonzo's records: 245 games started 1,325 rec 15,127 yds 111 td |
Re: Graham into Galvatron ? Graham 2.0 !
I see your point and I like it. He is humble off the the field but I see Jimmy gettin crunk after gaining 10 to 15 yards on regular plays, flexing his guns, and talkin sh!t. He has the passion but remember that foot injury had a bigger affect on his game more than we know.

Re: Graham into Galvatron ? Graham 2.0 !
If he plays out this contract, he will have made $43.3 million over 8 years. Best TE ever? maybe, but certainly best value ever. And maybe best Saints pick ever as well. Sorry Evans and Colston.

Forget all this "he must learn to block" rhetoric. To truly be considered great, it ain't blocking he needs to master, it's flopping. Tony Gonzalez was THE master of the flop. Jimmy must learn to flop. That's how he will become a truly dangerous man.
I'm not even kidding. |
Re: Graham into Galvatron ? Graham 2.0 !
I don't know. I think we can pretty much take it as a given that he will miss or be severely limited by injury for 3-4 games a season. The way he plays lends itself to injury. It's not a knock on him, he hAs played very well hurt in the past. I do think it will limit his stats in the long run.

Jimmy was lighting the league on fire until the NE game. Talib is one of few corners that can cover Jimmy. Talib took himself out of the game doing it too. That's also the game where Jimmy tore his tendon. He wasn't the same after that. He still played, but it was remiscient of Shockey having to score TDs on one leg...the extra gear and jumping were gone. He had the wrist the year before. Before that he was out of the playoffs vs. Seattle. He's physical, but he needs to protect his body a little better. He plays like Ed McCaffrey.

Re: Graham into Galvatron ? Graham 2.0 !
I keep reading about top CB's shutting Graham down.
1) It says a lot that defenses recognize JG's talent and use their #1 on him 2) It shows our weakness at WR last year hopefully Stills and Cooks draw more attention this year |

The addition of Cooks will certainly help. |

Problem is the refs don't feel as anxious to throw a flag with such a large specimen being defended |
Re: Graham into Galvatron ? Graham 2.0 !
he is not a great TE
he is not a great WR he is a freak some where in the middle. A freak that will one day cause the NFL to come up with a new position title for players like him. there are more and more coming up in the ranks now. by the time he hangs up his cleats i can imagine three or four huge impact players in the nfl like him. now the defenses are always one step behind so it will be fun to watch the development of players to stop these guys. |

Shaq had this problem his whole career. He got fouled all of the time, but he was so big and strong it didn't get called like it would for a smaller player. |

Re: Graham into Galvatron ? Graham 2.0 !
I agree with the articles assertion that Graham is comparable to Calvin Johnson. Graham led the NFL in fade route catches last year. He has ridiculous physical tools. 6"6 260 lbs and running 4.4 40 yd dash. He claims this and it looks that way on the field. I've never seen a linebacker run with him. The duo of Cooks and Graham is gonna be special and The Saints offense this year is gonna be outrageous.
