Well the announcers said he was retaliating and they always catch the 2nd guy.
I hope so because he\'s a pretty good guy and that behavior is out of character for him.

While listening to it on the radio I didn\'t hear anything about retaliation. Gleason is a pretty passionate guy, so the thought of him losing it shouldn\'t be a complete surprise.

Without knowing what really happened and to support something like that is nonsense.

Don\'t try to spin it. The only time I saw him running was well after the incident was over and he had already been ejected. I doubt he was afraid of Kemp. Hell, looked like you couldn\'t get him off- Kemp had plenty of time to retaliate.

Saints special teams captain Steve Gleason expects to be fined by the league after being ejected from Sunday\'s game against the Carolina Panthers for throwing a punch.


Gleason was tossed with 1:26 remaining in the first half after punching Panthers defensive end Kemp Rasmussen in his groin at the end of a kickoff return.


\"There was really no justification for what I did,\" an embarrassed Gleason said Monday. \"That\'s not my character, not the way I play the game. I\'m humiliated.\"


Gleason was on his knees after the play and Rasmussen was standing in front of him. There was a slight pause and then Gleason threw the punch.


\"It\'s a violent game and I was frustrated,\" Gleason said. \"I felt like the play was over and they had kept blocking me.\"


Gleason said he had never drawn a personal foul before, let alone been ejected. He had not talked to coach Jim Haslett about the incident.


\"I should apologize to everyone,\" Gleason said. \"My opponent, my team and my coach. I\'m just sick about it.\"


NFL director of football operations Gene Washington is expected to review the incident.

dude this is football. as much as i dont like dirty players, if you fel the need to hit a guy in the nuts go for it. really none of us know what happen but im sure there was a good reason he hit the dude in the nuts and i say bravo. well unless it was for no reason then i say your an idiot. it all depends on why he did it. you cant hit someone in the jaw with a helmet on. so the nuts are a perfect alternative. i like it especially concidering cry baby jake wants to twist people ankles. what a fag. maybe the player should have worn a cup.

someone said he should have hit him in teh jaw.... through what? the helmet?!... that is probably the only place you can hit someone on the football field because of all the pads would be the groin beucase most football players tdo not use a cup..... smart play if ya ask me (smart place to hit, not smart in doing so.....)

I can\'t believe this..you guys scream for players to \'\' Show some Heart\'\'?..and this guy...classy or not...shows up, and doesn\'t take any crap...I don\'t know what was said or whatever, and I don\'t care...Something made him mad..and he took action..And..might I add..His punch bent that dude in half..hahahaha..If he was aking for it..he got what was coming...Nice Form Gleason...

He\'s just earned my nod for Special Teams MVP of the year for the Saints...hahaha

NEW ORLEANS - Steve Gleason of the New Orleans Saints (news) was fined $5,000 by the NFL on Wednesday after being thrown out of last week\'s game with Carolina for punching the Panthers\' Kemp Rasmussen at the end of a kickoff return.



Gleason, the Saints\' special teams captain, said the fine was fair. \"From what I hear it was in line with what others have gotten.\" He apologized to his team mates and coaches.


\"I\'ve resolved the situation and now I want to move on,\" Gleason said.


Gleason, who had never been penalized for a personal foul in four NFL seasons, said he felt the Panthers continued to block him after the play was over.

Ultimately..I think this guy was just extremely frustrated...H\'e the kind of guy who you make a place for on your roster..He\'s tough..and has Heart..and I don\'t care who\'s nuts he bashes in...as long as someone is getting hit...

Let me go even further and say that the ideal situation would be to have all the Saints players line up..and get testical abuse from every heartbroken fan...
