Re: Why to watch Khiry Robinson at training camp

You mean like the fumble Ingram had in the playoff game against Seattle that basically cost us the game? Personally, I have never seen Robinson fumble the ball. Granted I never watched him in training camp, but still, I've never seen him fumble. Also, last time I checked, training camp practices didn't count against your record, and was where you g OT those kind of mistakes out of your system before the season starts. Conversely, I have seen Ingram and PT fumble the ball, and I've seen them both fumble the ball in playoff games. I've also seen both PT and Ingram whiff on pass protection too, so all this stuff about learning the pass protections and fumbling is just so much balderdash. Do people think that Adrian Peterson is one of if not the best RB in the game today? Yeah, most do, and I've seen him miss blocking assignments and fumble multiple times in games, but no one in their right mind would even consider taking him out of a game. This kid we've got needs seasoning. He needs playing time, and the more he gets, the better he will become. Since when did we become placid? When did we become afraid to put promising talent on the field? This is a Payton trademark, and a Saints trademark. Let's continue to be bold and brash and do things our way, after all, it's taken us from the doldrums to a Championship and we need to continue to do what we do.

Robinson Ingram and Thomas are very similar in my opinion. Id say Ingram has the best breakaway speed, Thomas has the best moves and Robinson has the most pop. I think wuth Robinsons vision balance stiff arm and reckless style he has the best chance to break some 30yd or better runs. Which we have not seen for a while.

This is an old article but pretty cool to hear this from Bill Parcells

yeah coming out of camp there were questions about him holding onto the ball. but when he hit the field he did not really show the drops. he had one one against the jets and recovered it or was called down if i am not mistaken. I was pleasantly surprised by his play. so I am hoping last years training camp was a welcome to the nfl jitters thing

now my concerns rest mostly on the history of second year backs getting increased work loads. the history is not in his favor. but the risk is well worth it.

PT does all the pass blocking so a wiff is expected here and there. but he is with out a doubt one of the best blocking backs in the NFL. so if he is here to mentor the kid i can not think of a better back to do it.

Ingram pass blocking? still needs a good amount of work

I have high hopes the kid and i hope he can make resigning Ingram less of a need signing and make it a luxury for the saints next year

Khiry filled the gap that Ivory left pretty well.
He should be even better this year, improving his strengths and his weaknesses.
I just hope to actually see balance on the field and not just hear about it in the press conferences.
It sure would make Brees job easier if we can get 4-7 on 1st down consistently. 2nd-and-5's open up so many possibilities.
40-50 throws on Sunday is just way too many rolls of the dice.
He might even be able to last long enough to mentor his replacement.
If his 5000 yards becomes 3800, and we are 14-2 and at home throughout, I'm good with that.
