Doesn't mean anything; Place him on the PUP list because he is not ready to practice during training camp, we already knew this. I believe he doesn't use a roster spot until off the PUP list

The sky is not falling- looks like we are just freeing up a spot for now

Its not like he's got to sit out or anything, reports are he's been running and conditioning, like they said - just frees up a roster spot whilst training camp goes on, he'll be ready

As long as he is 100% when he takes the field. No need to rush back after surgery and make things worse.

In his press conference today, he(Payton) said he sees Byrd off the PUP before they leave W. Virginia

No surprise, no big deal. It's more important for him to get the learning the defense part of it down anyway.

When has Payton EVER been honest about an injury?

Why would Byrd himself agree to a surgery that would keep him out for long periods of time when it could have been dealt with symptomatically?

Quit being a Chicken Little, the sky is in fact not falling

This wasn't an injury. It was a minor elective procedure done to eliminate a possible problem down the road. He probably had a pinched or encapsulated nerve, something that can be played through, but can also be easily relieved with minor surgery. Nothing to this.

PUP is the right move. As soon as a player practices, PUP isn't an option. Good move my Payton.
