Agree, but consider the following.

If Brees played another 10 years and saw a 25% drop off in passing yardage he would still be a top 10 rated QB based upon 2013 numbers.

If his TD count dropped by 25% he's still in the top 5.

Passing completion percentage? His numbers are and have been so insanely high that it's not worth discussing.

Plus, consider that as long as Payton remains the head coach the game plan will adjust to Bress' abilities.

It won't be a function of how good Brees will be in 10 years, it will be who is better. If Brees stays healthy I say it's possible. A long shot, but possible.

45 maybe not, but I bet he could play until 43. Favre played that long, and Brees is not nearly as dependent on his arm strength or his legs as Favre was, and he doesn't subject himself to a beating like Favre did. Either way I think we've got at least 4 more years of Brees and a lot can happen in that time.

Maybe he can set the new bar.... retire at 50! He'll need several pay cuts along the way as it is unimaginable what his cap number may be at 45. On the hand, his cap number and diminishing skill set is likely what will gently nudge him out.

I could see Brees playing at high level for several more years. I don't see him going past 40 however but could if he wanted. The game has evolved into a short pass attack.
