Mark Ingram......
We all know it was coming sooner or later by somebody on this board so it might as well be me and might as well be now. Lol
According to the guys on WWL radio at camp (bobby, deke, etc) our running game looks stellar. With one exception. They say Robinson is a monster, Cadet looks great, and even Strozier is turning heads. Of course PT is PT. Then comes Ingram dead last. So here it is. Can you see him being traded and if so do you think his stock went up because of his performance at the end of last year? If so did his stock go up enough maybe to get something better in return than we could have last year? Not picking up the optional 1 year extension is clearly a message, but to what end? Ok let me put my helmet and body armor on and wait for Mitch and Danno :). |
Re: Mark Ingram......
IMO, the Saints not picking up the option on his contract was a 'shot across the bow' in hopes of motivating him, for lack of a better word, more.

Re: Mark Ingram......
If we picked up the one year option on him we would have to pay him close to 6 mil
No running back in our offense will ever make that |
Re: Mark Ingram......
I read an article saying Ingram have been catching the ball a lot better. I don't have the link thou. Practices are one thing thou, we'll see how the guys stack up come the pre-season games.

Re: Mark Ingram......
I think he would have to be very bad in preseason to get cut or traded. I thought he was bad enough last preseason to warrant it, either way it's definitely his last chance.

Re: Mark Ingram......
I'm a Chase Lyman guy so I'll take training camp with a grain of salt. It's always great to hear encouraging news, but I wouldn't hang my hat on it... or that of some discouraging ones.

Re: Mark Ingram......
I don't see how anyone could know much about our backs yet this preseason because they've only been in full pads one day. How could Robinson be a beast in half pads?

Re: Mark Ingram......
i think the saints know what the have in Mark. Robinson and Strozier are hige question marks so they are getting more of a work out. way to early to tell
remember that letting mark go would save the saints about 1.4 million if he gets cut which does not seem like much but add that to any free cap money we may have we might be able to make a move in FA before the season starts. There is a huge down side to such a move. would you really want to go into the season with a second year back and a rookie? i do not like that idea. unless you get a seasoned back that has played in a complex system that is willing to chase the ring and not the money than i would consider the move but those are few and far between odds are Mark will play out his contract no matter what unless an angle falls from the sky. |
