Drew Brees out with a strained oblique

As per NOLA.com and NFL network, that's why he wasn't practicing today....

Apparently the back ups are playing well.

Payton says he's day to day; not serious at all

I doubt he plays against the Rams, there's no point in it.

I think it's pretty typical for guys in their mid 30's to get days off camp. Any tweak or twinge is going to get Drew pulled and rested up.

Let him rest until the regular season. Camp and practice are enough.

Does the sky seem to be a little lower than it was yesterday? Maybe its just the fog but I swear I can almost touch the clouds.

This isnt the injury you need worry about, move along, move along.

Re: Drew Brees out with a strained oblique

Payton pretty much said that if it were an actual game, he would have played. They rested him because it was sore...

Drew is 35. At that age in this sport, you worry about EVERY injury.

Exactly.

This is Brees' 14th training camp. I'm pretty sure he'd sit out if he stubbed his toe because its just not really necessary for him to play.

Re: Drew Brees out with a strained oblique

Farve stopped going to training camp all together in the latter part of his career. Granted Brees would never do that. He is too much of a compeditor.

Re: Drew Brees out with a strained oblique

I don't think Drew is the kind of athlete that sits out unless he's really hurting somewhere so it's probably bothering him. I think he'll be ok but I'm still a little concerned.

I agree. He is known for his competitive nature and is pretty open about that fact.

Needs to quit jacking around with the young bucks in those QB challenges...;)

Fear not Chicken Little's:

Quote:

Drew Brees is injured. But fear not, the injury is considered minor and is to his non-throwing arm.

Brees did not take part in Saturday’s scrimmage at The Greenbrier with a strained left oblique suffered during Friday’s practice. Coach Sean Payton said that he was held out as a precaution.

“We didn’t want to put him out the day after,” Payton said. “It’s going to require just a little bit of rest. We’ll see how it is coming back Monday.”

Out again today. I think we might have an Olin Kreutz situation on our hands.

Hell no. I really don't want him to play against Greg Williams defense. I wouldn't put it past him to pull some shadey ****.

Re: Drew Brees out with a strained oblique

I just want him to develop the chemistry with the new guys. I dont care how long you play this game, chemistry is key to success. It also creates confidence. Even little things like handing the ball off to a new guy.

Im not worried, but we cannot settle. I really think we will win the SB this year. If that is the case, the stars must be aligned and everyone must be on the same page.
