New Orleans Saints sign tight end Richard Quinn
 

The New Orleans Saints signed tight end Richard Quinn, according to a source.

The Saints tried out several unnamed players Tuesday morning on the lower field at the Greenbrier while practice was conducted on the upper field.

Quinn was a former second round pick in 2009 for the Denver Broncos. He has had stints with the Washington Redskins, Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals. Quinn has one career reception for nine yards.

The Saints have added a veteran tight end who’s shown some blocking ability in his NFL career.

The club signed Richard Quinn, most recently with Washington, on Tuesday, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

The 27-year-old Quinn was a second-round pick of the Broncos five years ago. In his two seasons with Denver (2009-2010), he caught just one total pass, but he got a positive grade as a run blocker in both campaigns from Pro Football Focus. In addition to two stints with Washington, Quinn has also spent time with Cincinnati and Arizona.

Right now I couldn't see a spot on the roster for him.

Hard to figure out where he fits in, unless we keep four TE's and stash either Hamm or Jacobs on the practice squad. We did have 4 TE's the Super Bowl year, IIRC: Shockey, Thomas, Dinkins and Humphrey. So it's not unheard ot.
