Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
The good: we remain healthy
The bad: none....it was the first preseason game The ugly: GW..........real real ugly. |
Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
Somebody I forgot to mention but looked good was Rufus Johnson. He made a couple of nice plays early on. Didn't play very long though.

Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
Cooks, Ingram, Hill, Walker, Griffin (makes a strong case for 2nd spot to let McCown walk), Morstead, Hicks, and 1st half interior O-line were superb.
T. Rooks looked bad, but this Coleman dude was way worse and the turd of the night. Special Teams sucked yet again with coverage, with returns AND allowed a fake punt to go 30-something yards. Coordinator McMahon continues to blow like the solar wind, and just like last year special teams will be our Achilles Heel. Regardless of talent, McMahon continues to prove that his does not have a clue on how to use this talent or do his freakin' job. Graham can go ahead and pack his bags, as far as I'm concerned; give Dimke the job...at least he didn't miss a freakin' 33 yard extra point. Plus Graham has a reputation as someone who is shaky with clutch kicks (see last playoff game). Dimke for hire. Overall I was pleased with both sides of the ball, but special teams coordinator can go live in a van down by the river. Nothing has changed or improved with those special teams units since last year...or the year before...or the year before...or the year before... |
Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
Didnt see the game.
Got alot on my mind at the moment and have not paid much attention to whats happening yet. By the sounds of things it look good overall last night but we need a athletic top notch MLB very soon. A Ogletree type who can cover the field side to side? |
Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
Stars of the Game
Tyrunn Walker..... Pancake After Garrett Gilbert shook loose of Trevin Wade was UUUAWESOME!!!! Also good break to stop a fourth down Cooks.... They were as afraid of him as we are waiting to see him in punt coverage....coner kicks most time.... TD catch didn't even look like he struggled..... Ok......Powell with a sack, Khiri Fortt with a Pressure.... and SJB... at least for a Rookie was in the right area... He will learn to stop those types of plays as he progresses DUD....Brandon Coleman... I call it nerves... He just wasn't there when the lights came on.... The pass that bounced off of his helmet... I was like please don't let that be #16...... but it was!!! UGHHHH!!! |
Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
I'm watching again and Ingram is def a bright spot. I do think our 1st string need some work. I realize our passing offense was not up to what we expect but Bree's is hurt I get that. Bradford didn't play either so it was pretty even as far as starters being in but the Rams out played us when most of the starters were in.
I saw some missed blocks (graham) and so E blown coverage. There is room for improvement. I did see some good coverage on ST, hope that carries into season. |

We didn't have anything even close to our starters playing in that game. |

Tyrunn Walker was an absolute hoss last night!

The drop off from Brees to Mccown is far worse than Bradford to Hill. Bradford hasn't done anything in this league so in my opinion there isn't really a drop off at all. Here is our list of starters that did not play: Drew Brees Jairus Byrd Pierre Thomas Champ Bailey Ben Grubbs Jahri Evans Kenny Stills Erik Lorig Victor Butler Kind of long. |

Cooks doesn't do KR. And he hasn't really lit things up at PR. It'll be interesting to see if he turns into the punt returner this year. |

Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
bad -
CB depth does not look to be improved. the second and third year players all seem to pick up were they left off. so it will be a long year of praying to stay healthy. white still at his best with the play in front of him. OL looked good for the most part and Litto did well except for missing a couple of stunts. Saints need to keep an eye on the waiver for back ups. I was not to impressed with the depth as a whole. DL inside looks set. i like the showing of the dack ups. DE is an are that did not shine but it looks to be better than last year. we need to work on Jr backup. WR - I have to wait till Drew returns. Coleman stunk up the joint. hit it the face with a ball. i almost fell out the chair LMAO. Toon? for a man his size he runs like a wimp. at least he caught the ball. but lack of effort to get yards after the catch leaves a sour taste in my mouth. ILB - another year of quick quick throws up the seam will kill us again this year. good - it is the first preseason game. |

I didn't see PT out there, any news on him? Figured they are just not risking injury? |
Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
Anyone having trouble replaying this on a NFL network /game pass subscription? Really annoying.

Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
I agree with Hagan that our o-line depth is a bit shallow minus our interior. Considering we had Harris and Senio Kelemente starting in Lou of Grubbs/Evans + Lellito and Goodwin, I think that's ok. Tackle depth has me quite worried though.

Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
Good - Run game. Ingram and Robinson. Cooks. Walker. Foster. Graham recieving. Humber. Griffin. Forrt, Powell and Sunseri showed promice. Dimke. Win.
Bad - The leader at kicker missed an easy one. Graham barely offering a shoulder on a block and getting the RB killed. LB's as a group are not impressive. Coleman didn't do the minimum for a NFL reciever in catching the ball. A WR, LB, and possibly CB not currently on the roster will make the final 53. Ugly - The Saints NEED a healthy Byrd, Stills and Grubbs. |

Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
Is it just me or does anyone think the Saints running more Stretch zone helped Ingram out?

Re: Ok the good the bad and the ugly
I was expecting A LOT more from Coleman. He looked terrible. Hopefully P-Rob and Champ are good to go. Dixon (#44) is the second coming of Jason David.
