Yeah, I know, crazy huh? Bear with me....

If you remember back to the Super Bowl year we had some key contributions from a guy named David Thomas. He played some tight end, some lead fullback, a little bit of h-back. He could block, catch and run after the catch. And he was a good special teamer. He made some big plays in crucial moments that season because everybody was so concerned with trying to cover everybody else they forgot about him.

I see a lot of David Thomas in Josh Hill. For one thing, he's a lot bigger this year than last year. He doesn't look like a converted wide receiver anymore, he looks like a tight end. The physical resemblance is uncanny. Last night those catches he made looked a whole lot like Thomas. Act like he's going to block, slip out to the flat while nobody's looking and it's an easy first down. And from what I've seen of him blocking, it's pretty good. Especially when he can use his speed to get outside and block a corner or safety on an off-tackle run.

I think Hill has made an impression on SP and we're going to see him getting a lot of snaps this year. He might catch 30-35 passes. I would not be surprised at all if Hill ended up having more of a role in the offense than whoever ends up as the #4 WR.
