safe bet

RG will get scooped up if cut, and McCown isn't eligible
smart money is we cut McCown but tell him not to clean out his locker and keep him a phone call away

I'm thinking McCown would get claimed if we cut him. There are some teams out there with some really bad QB's.

I just read that somebody just signed Brady Quinn. I'm sure McCown is a better option than that dude.

? is how bad is Drew hurt if he is 100 % i think saints go with griffin if he has no backslide the next few games. If Drew not 100% then i think Saints keep 3 qb on 53 roster.? is if griffin the 2nd qb an mccown cut is kilgore good enough to be no 3qb on practice squad or do sants need to look to other teams for a practice squad qb.Only was kilgore makes team is if griffin comes out on top in his battle with mc cown for the no 2qb however i think he will beat out mc cown saints like to keep 3qb but the 3rd like canfield on the practice squad.

In a similar situation with a vet (Patrick Ramsey) and a rookie (Chase Daniel) in 2010, we cut Ramsey and kept Daniel, with nobody on the practice squad. So it's not a given that we have to keep 3 QB's. If Payton has enough faith in Griffin as the backup he may decide it's pointless to keep a third guy.

I don't think McCown would last very long as a free agent. There have to be at least 10 teams where he would be an upgrade over their vet backup. I could also see the Bucs, Panthers or Falcons signing him to try and get a little inside info.

Considering it's just an oblique strain and he was back in pads today, it's safe to say it's a non-issue...

Reading your posts is like watching a movie in fast forward. Or running stop signs on a highway while traveling too fast to see the intersecting street sign. There's a destination but I'm moving too fast to figure it out. Lol. I'm sorry hennr.

You might be right, but we have LM signed for a pretty low salary... I think if he thought he had a chance to start somewhere he would have left. But, it looks like he might get that opportunity

Brady Quinn? no words

More reason why he wouldn't last 10 seconds on the waiver wire. Any team that claims him also claims that contract.

Edit: I might be wrong on that. I think the new CBA rules on veterans will make him a free agent immediately. He won't have to go thru waivers, I think.
