Good story. I don't agree with the writer that the CB situation is terrible at all, although that whole thing kind of depends on whether you think Corey White sucks or not. He is right about Galette though. I pointed out Galette's inconsistency quite a few times last season. Still a good player, but he's still got a lot to learn.

All legitimate concerns. I think he puts his pessimism in perspective with his prediction of the season record.

The question, for me, isn’t whether the Saints will be a good football team or a mediocre one. The question will be if they are a good football team — or a historic one.

tape on Roy boys defense is out there. we will not surprise anyone. so lets see. CB is still an issue i agree yet we have not seen all hands on deck so my bouts are tempered.

The one thing you need to realize is that you really don't want our D coming together right now. You want to know and see promise or players you can work with...

But D coming together near the playoffs is what you want.

Roy Boy? Does that mean Rob Ryan? Where does the Roy come from?

Once the season starts we won't be "evaluating" players, we'll be game planning. Huge difference in my opinion.

Don't read too much into it, Keenan lewis got torched last preseason and shut down every number 1 receiver he went against in the regular season

Preseasons all well and good but its not a true representation of how it will play out in the regular season

He even told the fans, don't worry he'd be shut-down as soon as the regular season started.

That was the coolest thing ever :bng:

I must say I agree with the characterization of our CB's except for the part where Robinson is the savior. I still see white not getting his head around or playing the ball in the air. I think he might be best served playing in the slot. I still see baptiste developing much slower than expected although I do like how physical he tries to play. I fear if this keeps up we may have to rely on bailey a lot more than we wanted to.

I believe he meant to say "Rob's boys".

Defensive perspective (For what ever a preseason evaluation is worth vs regular season)

2013
Week 1 KC 215 yards
Week 2 Oak 185 yards
Week 3 Hou 496 yards
Week 4 Mia 289 yards

Ave total yards allowed/ game = 295

Meaning when compared to the first 2 games of the 2014 preseason?
Absolutely nothing

Gallette was 6th in the league in sacks last year, serviceable at best as a run defender. His value is weighed heavily by what role you see want to see him in. He is sort of akin to a defensive Jimmy Graham (know its a stretch) If you are looking for a pass rusher or catcher then they are your men, if you want a blocker or run defender you may want to consider other options.

I hope some players get healthy and get some time during preseason.

How do you label your article a buzzkill and then wrap it up by saying we could go undefeated with the players he was criticizing? Yeah, whatever........

Giving up 500 yds to HOU in 2013 preseason just shows you how meaningless the preseason is.

The only thing the preseason is good for is individual talent evaluation.

That being said, I am excited to see this upcoming game. Our starters should be playing and we are going against a good team in their house.

I'm nervous about our D too. If we can be stout vs the run I think we have enough pass rush to force some quick throws and we've got some DBs who can actually make INTs now. Byrd and Bailey have great hands and we haven't seen them yet. I didn't need to see Bailey in preseason but I also didn't expect to need him to start which I think he may do. I see a mediocre LB core and overall a D-line you can run on. Like the writer said this year is SB Champion or bust. Luckily I forsee the best offense in football and a D that's good enough. I know we want a record that gives us Seattle in the Dome in the playoffs. And at home I like our chances.
