PFF- All Preseason team
1 Attachment(s)
PFF made a "All Preseason Team". I know it's lame and doesn't mean anything...
But I thought it was noteworthy that Mark Ingram earned the starting running back. Running Back: Mark Ingram, NO (+1.5) As to be expected there’s not been a lot of carries for the lead backs of this league, but Ingram looked impressive enough averaging 7 yards per rush. A nice one-two effort when you think what his teammate Pierre Thomas showed in the receiving game. They also tweeted that Mark had 6 broken tackles on 20 carries and averaged a league hight, 4.9 yards after contact, which are very impressive numbers. Again, preseason doesn't mean anything but to me, it's another reason to be optimistic about the season. (cautiously optimistic though, we're Saints fans after all) Cam Jordan also made the PFF starters team Edge Rushers: Cameron Jordan, NO (+6.5) and Tamba Hali, KC (+6.7) With the Saints looking more like a 4-3 team right now, Jordan is spending more time at end and isn’t looking any worse for it with a splendid effort in preseason so far. Not as surprising as Ingram, but still nice to see. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...-the-starters/ |
Re: PFF- All Preseason team
Not a bad snippet of info. It's looking like we may get to see Ingram at his best this year.

Re: PFF- All Preseason team
Defense isn't a 4-3 now anymore than it was last year. Just playing it vanilla. I imagine there won't be a whole lot of either 4-3 or 3-4 formations. I would love to see a count of the number of plays last year with 2 or less linebackers, I bet it's easily 75%.

And we took a ton of snaps in our big nickel and dime packages. I'm not sure about that 75% figure, but I'm pretty sure we ran less than 3 LB's over 50% easily. There was a time when I'd spend an hour or two researching that, but I'm too frigging old now. https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/i...miPk1AxZK9lG8c |
Re: PFF- All Preseason team
Dont worry Utah, you wont get blasted on here for your post like SR members do. If you write a crappy post, we will just call you a dumb ass cause its the right think to do :-)

Re: PFF- All Preseason team
Strange... nobody from BnG made the team?

Re: PFF- All Preseason team
Ingram will be a fantasy sleeper this year. Won't be a number 1 RB, but I think he will surprise us with 1000 yds and 10+TDs. Robinson will be good for 700+ and 4-6 TDs, PT will come in at 400+ and 4 TDs. Thomas will get more receiving yards and TDs than Ingram and Robinson combined as I think he'll be the 3rd down back only.

Re: PFF- All Preseason team
Though he wasn't listed as a starter, TE Josh Hill made top 5 Overall for Tight Ends...

Re: PFF- All Preseason team
2. Linebackers Other Than Junior Galette
Galette may have been a pleasant surprise for the team last season, but the linebacking unit is the weak link of the defense. The team could use another pass rusher to complement Jordan and Galette. There was hope that Victor Butler could fill this role, but he has struggled with injuries and didn’t survive the first round of cuts. Parys Haralson was solid on the outside last season, but didn’t provide much as a pass rusher. The play of the inside linebackers is equally concerning. Curtis Lofton struggled with consistency, although he did enjoy a solid postseason. At the other ILB spot, David Hawthorne has not matched the promise from his days in Seattle, most noticeably as a run defender, where he was strong in the past but registered a negative grade for the year, including a -7.0 in the playoffs. Since the Saints chose not to address the linebacker position until Day 3 of the Draft, they will likely be relying on internal help from this same group. Even slight improvements from the LB unit could make a big difference for the Saints’ defense this season. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...rleans-saints/ |
